The CPKC Montrose Spur is a railroad line we don't have alot of personal experience with, but we do enjoy visiting these quiet type railroad tracks.
Quiet in the sense that you won't see alot of trains flying up and down these tracks everyday compare to their mainline counter parts and the trains are alot shorter.
These spur tracks that come off the mainline tend to be quite rough shape, but these tracks are not nearly in bad shape as some other of southern Ontario railroad spurs we've seen in the past like
some parts of Fergus Spur in Hespeler or even certain parts of Brantford Street running tracks like the Burford Spur. Certainly Not!
Next we are avoiding taking any kind of deep dive into the CPKC Montrose Spur from a historic point as the Montrose Spur seems to have gone through alot of changes over the past few decades.
It's alittle difficult for us to comprehand and we don't to obfuscate it's history to our viewers until we too understand it for ourselves.
Instead we are going to cheat alittle and just leave with a link from Paul Duncan's CP Montrose Spur page If you are still craving to learn more for yourselves:
www.niagararails.com/montrose...
Anyways this video picks up exactly the moment we spot the CPKC Montrose Spur train along Highway 58A or Townline Tunnel Road in Welland, Ontario.
We pass the CPKC Train and then head it off at Lincoln Street railroad crossing along the CPKC Montrose Spur.
Later we spot this train again as we attempt chase it in Niagara Falls, but we saving that part for our next CPKC Video. So stay tune for an underlying link here one day
Thanks for watching

And then drive home, have a couple beers and something off the barbecue with the family... and what a great evening. A life well led.

That actually sounds like a great idea, but I think we just pick up a box of timbits on the way home. But I do like the BBQ 🥩🌭🍔 and occasional 🍻

Good to see behind-the-scene footage of your railroad crossing footage setup. Although CPKC is a thing as of this year, I still refer to Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern as their original names separately to this day. Nice work!

Thanks. I'm not sure if you heard of the show call Survivor Man, but Les Stroud(host) does those cuts where he films himself walking around for miles. I'm always amazed by that because you know he has to walk all they way back to get his back pack and camera gear. I walk back to get to my car. So I'm paying homage to that. Alhough he does a way better job cutting and editing just enough to be not too much or too little. I'm still working on that.

Nice. That sign by the tracks Indicates Mile 11. The tracks are such heavy CWR as it used to be a portion of the Hamilton Sub mainline.

Yeah. I feel like this operates like a shortline, but the tracks look so much better. It's kind weird think this was Hamilton Sub before. This is why I get so easily confused looking at current tracks and ghost track beds tracks on google satellite map. I'm always like what going on here.

@@Trains4Fun my go-to spot is Campbellville (Guelph Junction) as the Hamilton Sub merges with the Galt Sub. For CP, I start at Campbellville and just google map the Galt Sub. At every level crossing I drop a pin for future consideration for a place to film them. Side Road 25 S is a good little spot, there is a signal light right there, Concession Road 14 E is another little cool spot, there is a slight bend and a signal light there as well. Both of the above mentioned signal lights are Block lights and only come on when a train is approaching that Block. Galt CP Train Station is another favorite location as well as there usually is action through there either it be a local taking Toyota cars to Wolverton or the big boys going through there as well. I will write another message with more spots if you'd like as I have more.
