Why is it that the more I work on myself the more red flags I spot in the relationship I was in? I am confused now. I want her back but I am starting to think that if I have a chance to take her back I might lose self respect for myself. Oh boy. I guess I will continue to work on self improvement and see if it was really love or just the feeling of having someone to spend time with.

Relationships have the same rate as marriages, 50 percent will end in breakup/divorce (now even higher) or death. So as someone who misses their ex deeply and hopes to be back with them, enjoy your life regardless because EVEN if you do get back together, even forever, they will at some point will be gone (or you). Have a variety of things that make you happy, whether it be friends, family, going out yourself for new hobbies... LIVE THE BEST YOU CAN. YOU HAVE SUPPORT

It really doesn't matter what you know about relationships if the other person isn't open to the realities of what it takes to build a healthy relationship. I can talk about respect, communication, compromise and attachment styles til I'm blue in the face. If they can't reciprocate that understanding...it'll never work. You can change but if they haven't changed....they come back and you walk on egg shells praying they don't do it to you again..

When looking back at my behaviour in the relationship I was quite secure in my feelings. When I had thoughts of breaking up or thinking it wasn't working out I reminded myself of the good things about them, what made me fall in love with them in the first place and if that didn't help I'd ask them about it. Not always though, there is a caviat, I did become a bit emotionally disconnected with Myself lately. I had been going through some rough times with uni and money which made me tune out my own emotions a lot, resulting in a less pleasant and not always emotionally open person.

I also sabotaged our relationship. I was the worst person possible. I deserve it.

After 6 months of chasing her ex, she stopped and he started chasing her. Another example of chasing after the one who dumped you doesn’t work!

I think asking your family is worst vs your friends... But why change yourself? Why not be the same person they fell in love with isn't that what drew them to you in the first place? Like I changed the way I lived a bit for her and she did the same for me when we were dating but now that I'm single (and would love to be back with her), I think being myself again (with some minor changes) would be the BEST option.

I really messed things up. After this last break up,I realized i was acting like a narcissist. I hate knowing that I’m this way. My ex would always leave the relationship and break up over text. She tells me she can’t be with me and it does feel horrible knowing that but i do understand. I’ve made many mistakes but I’m human and i will make mistakes. I’m hoping things will get better. She said that she couldn’t be with anyone and has no desire to be with someone be since this happened ,how our relationship ended but i feel like that’s an excuse. In my case, every time I’ve wondered if they moved on, they had TOTALLY moved on. Girls are usually miles ahead of the guy. Take it from me, don’t waste time pining for someone who told you it was over. Move on, and never look back unless they contact you.

The reason she introduced the new boyfriend is to devalue the ex, he's probably very fortunate that she discarded him to go latch onto others to feed her cycle. Broken up in November 2016, she still wanted to rekindle in December and early January ... i completely messed up when she reached out (i wasn't emotionally strong enough to want a meeting). Honestly my ex has never said we wont ever get back together. Her and I, and her new guy, work together and I normally keep to myself at work. I'm a cook and she is a food runner and cross-trained to cook yet still comes to me to make her food all the time. She still does subtle things to try and get my attention, and even spouts off smart remarks as if she is trying to make me jealous sometimes. She is all over the place and it's hard to get a read on her. I've gotten over the break up, it was the longest recovery period I've gone through, and I started working on myself. She started approaching me more at work when I started showing a bit more happiness and peace but isnt reaching out. She is dating a new guy but he gets smart with her more than I did and argues with her more than I did but she keeps on trying to through the image that she is happy in my face. I really need help but I can't afford to do the email or Skype. My ex and I broke up almost 2 weeks ago after a 5 year relationship. Our relationship has been where we have lived together on and off throughout the 5 years. We were engaged to be married too. We have been living long-distance since January of this year and have only seen eachother in person 1 time for about a week in July in this whole year. Before that for about a month and a half after he got out of jail he started ignoring me on and off he said he was because he was doing drugs and didn't want to talk to the woman he loves while he is doing that and I would call him a few times in a row leave a couple voicemails and sent a couple messages some nice some going off each time he ignored me. Then I posted on what was our shared Facebook a bunch of stuff about the way he was being and the way someone should be if you were a priority. I made a post that said "when someone's talking all that game it's like I keep hearing shit but I'm not seeing nothing". He got really mad and said I don't need all this bullshit and drama if anyone wants to talk real shit then call me unless your name is Ann Clemens and then went back to his Facebook. He would tell me he loved me and missed me and wanted to be with me and he wants to get things back the way they were when we were close through all of this. I called him that night and he said he don't know if he wants to be with me then 2 days later he said we will see about being together then 2 days later he was finally honest and said he just can't do it anymore and I said can I call you tomorrow about my job he said well... Uummm.. I don't wanna keep lead you on. He said we are not compatible and we like different things and do different things. He knew we were different and we always said we are good for eachother because I am soft and he is harder. He said I ruin everything that was good that we did. He had been talking and messing with other woman before he told me he doesn't want to keep leading me on and he had them on his Facebook. I seen before he made it to where you couldn't see his friends list anymore. He said it's been coming for a while you haven't seen it? I said no not til you got out of jail. He made everything seem like we were ok and I said please please just give me one last chance he said I have to stick to it this time I said I just want one last chance to show you he said you want to do that now you've had 5 years. I said I don't wanna lose you from my life forever I wanna be in your life he said I'm not xing you out of my life we can be friends on Facebook and you can call me about advice or something. So I asked him again about call him tomorrow about my job stuff he said yes. So I called him and he was having a bad night and didn't want to talk so he said we can talk tomorrow or something so I called the next day and he sent me to voicemail I left a message and he called back we said hello then he hung up. I haven't tried to contact him since. That has been 1 week and 3 days now. I have liked a few profile pics on his facebook and even commented he commented back. About 3 days ago he sent me a challenge in 8 ball pool and I accepted. So we played about 4 games and he told me he moved into a new place with his friends I said cool how are you liking it? He said it's alright and he said he had a gaming chair I said it must be nice playing games in it he said I haven't played any games in it yet I said gaming chairs are cool and I asked him about how his electronics business was going he said ok. I told him I'd been working for 3 days now he didn't respond. I don't know if he seen the message or not. I was sooo happy and nervous. I thought he does think about me. But then I thought maybe he doesn't and he just played a game with me but why would he challenge me and then tell me a little of what is going on in his life? Today I realized he unfriended me on Facebook. Which I think it happened a few days ago now that I think about it. I am so confused by the pool game time we had. Then he unfriends me. I'm thinking he may block me next. I want to call him and go see him. I wonder if he changed his number too. I am going crazy and it hurts so bad. I just want to be with him and share a life with him. I don't know what to think or do. There has been cheating on my end and emotional cheating on his end that I know of. He was abusive and almost killed me one time about 4 years ago. The abuse got better as time went on. I gave my kids up to be with him because of his offense. I was extremely jealous and tried to control him. He was snappy with me alot of times. I have really bad anxiety and last year I found out I have borderline personal disorder. We didn't sit down and really talk about stuff. He would tell me stuff but I didn't listen much. He would say one thing and do another. We were around eachother most of the time. We did most everything together. He would get on me about taking care of myself and he told me he needed help financially and would get frustrated and say "I need your help" over the past 2 years to help pay rent and bills but I didn't help. I did find out I had cancer 2 years ago and went through cancer treatment last year pretty much by myself and had blood clots in my leg so I didn't help for sure through that even though I could have tried to get disability during that time but didn't even try. I know there is alot of negativity but he pointed some of these things out to me and I have realized alot. I think he is in a relationship now but I don't know that for sure yet. It drives me crazy. She gets all of what I had and want. Everything remind me of him. He is in everything. He hasn't tried to contact me at all except when he challenged me in 8 ball pool the one day. I am afraid of being gone from there too. I see alot of things and alit is because of me. How can I get him yo be with me let alone talk to me if he has the same number? He is all I want. This is tearing me apart. I just want the one chance to be the better person and be good to him and show him I do care about myself and about him being able to be him. He is everything to me. I don't wanna have a better life if he won't be with me in my better life. I am a mess. I stared working last Tuesday and it is hard to work going through this. I told him all the stuff I got accomplished the day he told me he didn't wanna lead me on anymore.When he told me we will see about being together that gave me motivation to do things but then when he told me he doesn't wanna keep leading me on it killed me and me wanting to do anything. I was always worried about what he was doing and didn't do much of anything or have friends either. My ex girlfriend has reached out telling me she misses me while she is now seeing my coworker for 4 months. She promised to meet up, only to show up at my work and be intimate with the new guy in front of me. Despite this, she still prefers to keep her relationship with him hidden, much to the new guy's frustration, because when he wants to show her off on social media, she makes him delete the photos (our circle of friends see him as a downgrade and knew she cheated on me with him). The most you're going to be with this woman is in the friend zone. Why torture yourself? Look, it's no fun, but I believe that you give each woman one chance per lifetime. If it doesn't happen you need to move on. Not try to win her back, especially if there was another romantic relationship in between. There is baggage now and to me it's not worth it. Me and my x broke up 3 weeks ago it's her house and I took a few stuff but I still have lots stuff there I pop round there other day and she's packed the rest my stuff does this mean we are over as she hasn't message me in 3 weeks

Don't be friends with an ex? I'm friends with my ex. He lives 3,000 miles away. He claims to need me spiritually and I'm not going to abandon him for my selfish ambitions of wanting what I want when I want. Though I love him I pray he finds someone he can depend on for the spiritual guidance I give him. Any other attitude means you have no connection to God seems to me because a relationship or lack of one can define your state of mind. I'm secure enough in my connection to God that I don't need a man to begin with, so being friends with one that I love is simply easy and not torture as you suggest. If you can't be a friend to someone then how can you be a husband/wife?? Thanks for the guidance anyways. Appreciate your efforts.
