Thanks for the tutorial. I was trying to figure out how to use a hdr image's light without the image showing and you solved that problem for me. Also the rest of the tutorial was really well done. Keep up the good work!

Awesome tutorial, you explain very clearly, thank you! Can I please ask at 6:48, why you choose to disable the background HDRI via the nodes, instead of using the Render properties -> Film -> Transparent option? Is it to give the background a color, in addition to hiding the HDRI image?
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your comments! For disabling the hdri through nodes will retain the lighting that comes from it and also giving the option if any custom color for background is needed. Using transparent is good when you would like to export the render and compose it further. Although it produces a similar result with a alpha no background color, but in many instances, we sometimes just like to render straight out of blender without any further compositing of background. Both have their advantages.

I'm making this. I found it better for shape if, after the poking, which I've done on the bottom as well, I added 2x subdivisions surface, applied it, then decimated it and applied that too, and did the bevel afterwards. They might have changed something with refraction in 3.0 Blender but in Evee it's not really working like this, or I messed up something.. the core of the crystal makes no difference in color in my version. I switch it on and off and the whole crystal looks the same. I have refraction enabled in evee, transmission 1 on the material and IQR 2 just as you, the end result is different. I managed to get a similar result after some tweaking. Thanks!

Also your crystal looks different in the final product stage. What did you do to make the final product look so different?
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 4 жыл бұрын
The crystal model has more detail that I used. Otherwise the steps are all same. Nothing else changes. If you add more edges to the model then you will get more reflections. To keep the modeling part short I used a simple crystal shape.

I am a bit confused... I can't select the middle vertex and can't change the shape using the transform tool. I am using 2.93 blender. Nice tutorial though!
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 3 жыл бұрын
For the middle vertex, make sure to switch to vertex mode so you can select it (By default it may be in face polygon mode). It will be visible in the top face part once you add poke faces. Check if you can select other vertices. You can also delete the top face polygon and press F to add a new face and repeat poke faces. Thank you!

@@Farrukh3D Could you elaborate more on the "top face part"? I looked inside the cylinder and couldn't find one... Could you please help me? I pressed F but no face was created :) Thank you so much for the reply though! It means a lot :D
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulyoo7479 The top face part refers to the polygon that is on the top flat part of the cylinder. First, select it in edit mode, delete it. To create a face, you will need to select all the edges surrounding the open cylinder on top. (select in edge mode) Then press F to fill that area. A new polygon will be created just like before. Although it is not a needed step here. Try on a new cylinder mesh. This method is shown also in my other succulent tutorial where I create the bottom planter mesh and filling the mesh area.

To close split windows in Blender, the mouse arrow has to be moved to the corner of the window. It is how blender works to close split windows. Click and drag towards the window to close from the corner. That window will close.

Poly count is insane, so you would have to make a low poly and bake textures from the high to the low otherwise there aren't going to be many applications for this
@Farrukh3D
@Farrukh3D 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments. Polycount can be simply reduced by removing the subdivision modifier or using a lower value. The baking of low high poly process is a complete another topic and not intended for this video. People already have shared many examples of using this same effect and getting results because the workflow will be the same for the crystal effect settings.
@PolarTitan
@PolarTitan 4 жыл бұрын
@@Farrukh3D Even by just lowering polycount by removing subdivision it still is going to be high and if you make it super low then you lose all the desired detail. Yes, it is another topic, but it is the same topic. What I mean by that, if this is to be useful for people in the industry or those starting out, they need to know there are more steps and that they can't just say out this is pretty and cool and expect for this to be industry standard. That is how bad habits are formed and honestly won't help people in long run.
