The book is just one beekeeper writing about his,her condicions. Here we drive trailers, made for 50 hives from flow to flow, all summer. The hives are always in the box.. with space in the middle for the beek to work. The hives are always protected and the work is not under the sun. It's made for LR , but similar to AZ.

@@kamonreynolds it's wery practical for our flows. First they ride on Acacia or Sage. Over summer Rapeseed, Linden and Sunflower. Then before winter they all come down on Heather, by the sea, wher i am. If you write.. "Kontejneri za pcele" some trailers should come out. Your Big Red cood do it nice

I was to Hawaii two times. The first time the syrup for my pancakes was passion fruit and honey mixed together. Never had anything like that in my life. The second trip I specifically looked for their white honey. I don't know what flower that was from, but fantastic. I picked up a bunch of different honeys while I was there. After 13 years I still have some of it. I don't want to eat it because I don't know if I'll ever be back there again. If I could, I would live in Hawaii in the winter and stay at the mountain house in Pennsylvania in the spring, summer, and part of fall.

David, has built one cool lift! He needs to go into the lift business! It would be interesting to see what he used in his boom pivot joints and how much it will lift. A small utility trailer could double his hauling capacity with a pickup truck. Will the type of cable he uses stretch under a heavy load? It’s very cool and definitely a back saver!

That's a good idea. We can purchase these cranes and install on any truck. I'm just concerned about that cable. I prefer the steel wire cable. Some deep hives are really heavy, and I'd install some rollers on these tracks. Improve some safety features. Good job.

The Ezyloader, which this is home made lift is modeled after, uses boat or mountain climbing rope that has over 7 ton rating and tangles less so if that is used the pickup would tip or loader break before the rope will. Even the one I use for my quad winch is rated at 3500lbs so as long as it is looped properly no issues with capacity and much less binding. Just fyi.
@hyfy-tr2jy
@hyfy-tr2jy 3 жыл бұрын
I would never have thought that a lift with an arm with two pivot points and a reach as far out as that goes, could lift up two hives full of honey without significant issues of bending or binding at the pivots. Sure steel is strong but I am honestly shocked

@@kamonreynolds Kamon, If you are designing one of these for yourself, put some thought into incorporating a hydraulic vertical cylinder into the central post so you can also have some control with vertical height of the lift. Having 3 axis control of the lift will give you a lot of options and versatility yet can be stored compactly
@beematter
@beematter 3 жыл бұрын
Indeed. The Ezyloader that this is modeled after but is, admittedly, a larger unit in some respects, has s lift capacity of 300kg or 660lbs which is enough to lift five full deeps or even 4-way palleted hives easily so with the right steel, bearings and stress considerations these thing do lift amazingly well. Good job on the build!

The original Ezyloader was an award-winning invention by Trevor Billet for a vehicle-mounted load lifter that became known as the Billet Easyloader (name later changed to the Ezyloader). In 1998 the business devoted their time and resources exclusively to developing and manufacturing the patented Ezyloader load lifting system, which is now available in six different models. The Ezyloader product has customers in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America and the Middle East. Our head office and production factory is based in Ballina, New South Wales, which is also the centre for research and development and customer technical support. Ezyloader has been recognised by the Australian Federal Government. Its patented technology was nominated in the prestigious Australian Technology Showcase. This forum is designed to provide national and international exposure for the country's best innovations.In 2008, the business was acquired by M & K Stafford Engineering Pty Ltd.

I found that the bearing swivels on the 3 point hookup on my tractor will work for the swivels in the balancing section of the lift will work. I think that is what u possibly used. I order a couple from the new holland tractor dealer in Missoula Montana. I have started accumulating the materials needed for the building of your design og hive lifter. I'm using all .25 inch steel. with a .375 base. 1 1/8" bar stock for the pivot points. I will put grease zirks where needed. and a electric magnet brake system to lock in place when lifting hives to keep boom from moving when I don't want it to. do you have any Idea what the lifting capacity is? I'm trying to build for 500 lbs lift capacity. with minimal deflection on booms. This is a great build that u presented to other Beeks. Thank you!!

@kamonreynolds 3 жыл бұрын
I am young and I do have a lot to learn. Not from him though. One of the few things I do know is that Don is a liar and resells bees from commercial GA producers ever year and claims they are his and special bees for a profit. This is not opinion, it is fact. There are many beekeepers, bee inspectors, and bee companies who know the dishonesty that goes down in Lula, GA. But hey, youtube is great, you can screw some people over and market to the next new beekeeper that comes along. If you want to learn from someone who is the REAL deal in GA (or anywhere) Bob Binnie on youtube is that someone. He has more integrity in a finger nail clipping than Don has in his whole body.
