Control> F is your friend my friend. Helps find stuff in WSM faster.. Love those ejector concerns. I'd say that's the most common concern for EVAP concern under boost.

My 2013 fusion 1.6T L4 had a problem filling up full at the gas station.. not starting so I spliced the Purge Valve and changed it cheaply cause you can buy it separately online and it fixed at the pump problem but I keep getting check engine light p144c and got real frustrated but now seeing this video I should have went the full wire change route and not the mickey mouse way lol. My car is sluggish under load so ya always wondered why I can't spin tires good when a turbo is in the car. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to more videos.

I live in rural Central California. When Interstate 5 opened up between Los Angeles and San Francisco we started getting people off the Interstate with car troubles. I could tell a laid back San Franciscan from an uptight Angelian just by disposition/attitude. We got a guy in from L.A. who said he needed a fuel pump. As a 14yo kid, I didn't argue with him. When I finished installing the pump, he started the engine and 100% floored it. I watched the metal fan blades go completely flat and then it threw a belt. He explained to me that a mechanic had told him to floor the engine before a trip to reveal any possible weak points. I put on a new belt, tighting the living piss out of it and then he was on his way. I passed his test.

I just posted on the escape video, the purge valve is what’s clicking. But this video helped me a lot. Going to change it out, and your so damn good, you told me the part number for it in the escape reseal video.

Whatever diagnostic system he is using is extracting that much information. Snap On's top of the line diagnostics equipment can't extract that amount of stored memory I've looked many times we get less than half of the information that he can pull from memory with what he is using. It's probably FoMoCo's dealership diagnostics equipment? It sort of looks like forscan.

Definitely a super common one on these. Had replaced mine on my '16 2.0 fusion from previous owner over filling. It idle stumbled really bad after every fill up, even if I didn't get a full tanks worth it still did it. 21psi seems awful high on these?? I was under the impression that they boosted to 16-18psi? Could be wrong but sounds like someone turned the boost up on that guy. That's a fair amount of boost to run on that little k03 on a factory tune.

Nice! Hadn't had an explanation of the evap system on a boosted engine before, this was interesting. Seems like there could be a way to bench test the check valve, with regulated shop air applied to the port from the intake, to simulate boost? Just for curiosity sake.

How many miles does this have and you mentioned it’s an issue for that age. I wonder if someone with a scan tool (do it yourself) could come up with the same diagnosis you did? Or is this with this type of problem it has to be done by a technician such as yourself?

My 13 F150 3.5 pops this code at 65mph on cruise on the highway. I was told it was the EVAP canister and $370 later I still get the code.

Thank you for this explanation! I have the same issue. I couldn't determine if my purge valve was faulty or not. Seemed like there was no suction when electrical component was unplugged. (Which means it's working as intended?)

Rich, serious question. Are the evap components all still 12v or have they dropped them down to 5 volts? Reason I ask is because an older tech showed me a cool trick years ago, hook a noid light up to the electrical connector, turn the circuit on with the scanner. Light comes on, your wiring, computer, fuses, u just eliminated all that

13 FUSION . auto zone told me code p144c " ,evaporative emission system purge flow performance during boost", replace EVAP , so i did part number DURALAST PV756 called a solenoid , ...37$ , but light still is on. might be the "charcoal box" connected to this part?? idk. any suggestions appreciated !

Well the first problem is you went to AutoZone you never go to them and look at their codes and take their recommendations for repairs You could have a vent valve issue which is back on the charcoal canister or you could have a filler neck for the gas fill crack or problem

I was told they also go bad from overfilling the gas tank. 120$ part.

Yeah I've done so many of them now I just stick my hand down in their blind and get it out and you're right over fueling is an issue but everybody likes to argue with me on the internet if you look at my previous videos on filling up your gas tank you'll see I always tell people to quit overfilling but yet people say I'm full of s*** and it doesn't cause any damage and they don't want to listen

Isn’t a 16 w 72 k still under emissions warranty? Should be 8/80 . 21 psi of boost that’s a lot of boost for a stock engine.

8 years 80000 mile federal emissions warranty covers the engine control module and the catalytic converters, the rest falls under factory warranty, normally 3 years 36000 miles.

The procedure at 3:33 says to monitor the FTP PID but my freeze frame doesn't list an FTP. Apparently the problem can be the purge valve near the engine or the vent valve near the gas tank?

99.9% of the time it's always the purge valve let me just leave you with that and let's not waste a lot of time

Would this always throw a check engine light? Mines in the shop now getting it replaced. I didn’t have a check engine light though. It would just surge a lot at idle and going from D and into R.

Have you experienced any of these being bad out of the gate? We just replaced ours on our 2017 escape 2.0 but every 500-800 miles we’re getting this code again. Our local dealership is blaming it on our aftermarket intake system, but nobody else with this intake seems to be having this issue.

I also have a 2015 Ford fusion with this code,after replacing the part I inspected the old one..I applied vacuum to one side and pressure to one..found out that the part sticks at times and works fine other times...my guess is it will stick again and trip the light as this is so common a failure part...
