Take a peek inside a small corner of our operation in Northern Michigan to see one of the steps needed to build our Pneumatics Enclosure for our Now Released ATC. Utilizing the 2 sided design and layout feature in Vectric VCarve Pro we are able to perfectly align both sides of our HDPE panels with guide pins for worry free cutting.

What Vectric software did you use that let you see through the part for two sided operations? Vcarve?

Yes I used Vectric Vcarve Pro although Desktop and Aspire will do it also. When you are setting up your job as 2-sided it allows you to "flip" the stock over and all off the vectors show thru the material, almost as if you were drawing on both sides of a piece of glass accept the vectors on the back side are slightly lighter in color. I will be at the computer all weekend editing videos and will make a short clip showing how it works and will post here in the channel. ~Jeff

Couldn’t you save the routing step at the end by doing it on the cnc? Seems it would be safer. Had a friend who got bit by the router and lost the tips of 2 fingers

The routing step at the end is a 2 part task. Previously we would use a flush trim router bit to remove the tabs used to hold the parts in place during the final cutout process. Then we used a deburring tool by hand to ease the outside edges of the HDPE to refine the product for handling comfort. Recently I switched over to a 1/8" roundover bit to ease the edges and found it has plenty of flush cutting surface to combine both tasks into one quick and perfect process. This is not to say that we can ever become complacent with power tools regardless of how small they may be or how many safety features are engineered into them. ~Jeff

The tabs hold the parts in place during the machining operations, thus they must remain until after the parts are removed from the frame. However, the tabs can be removed using alternate methods which are safer, such as using a sander or a mill bastard file (both will leave a very smooth surface if used properly).

@@gaiustacitus4242Walking to work everyday is safer then driving. Yet most of us would be spending half our time walking. Sometimes the risk is worth the reward. He is beveling clean pastic (no knots or splits, ect). In this case, the reward is passed down to the customer as production is incressed. Just think about how much more time it would take to sand tabs and bevel edges with a sanding block and file. Its the safest way, yet inconsistencies and increased production costs, will get us a sloppy product for twice the cost.

lol what? If router tables were that scary home depot wouldn't sell them. Perfectly fine and common practice in many a shop.@@gaiustacitus4242
