Its better to drop trans pan, check magnets and clean any metal debris, then change CVT filter which it gets dirty. And i beleive tech manual calls for 1st fill and drain, then 2nd fill and check overflow bolt until it fine small stream fluid coming out within temperature.

Thanks for your video. I was told after refilling the new transmission oil and tighten the 19mm screw, you need to drain out the excessive oil out from the 14mm screw drain hole.
@turbotato Жыл бұрын
Before I purchased the dip stick, I simply drained, captured and measured the amount of old fluid that came out and replaced it with the same amount of fresh fluid. Once I received my new dip stick, I used it to check the fluid and it was dead on. The only bolt I removed was the 14mm drain plug. Make sure you replace the crush washer on the drain bolt so that it doesn't leak. Very easy. I used AMSOIL Full Synthetic CVT Fluid...it does shift much smoother with the AMSOIL.

@turbotato Жыл бұрын
@@jonmo2694 Don't know for sure. We own 4 cars with CVTs and I've changed fluid multiple time and really never saw a difference with using the factory fluid. I don't sell AMSOIL nor do I have any affiliation with the company. I paid for my own fluid to do the change. I had read good things about the AMSOIL fluid and decided to give it a try. My son is the one who noticed that the Rogue was shifting smoother and he knew nothing about AMSOIL or which fluid I used. My other son made the same comment about his Subaru. after we changed his fluid with AMSOIL. Do some research on your own. Good Luck.

If you are only draining the ATF from the oil pan it is not an oil change. Much unlike the engine, in which all of the oil drains away from all of the parts into the pan, the transmission does not. The transmission holds most of it's oil in the torque converter and valve body. This is only a 1/3 oil change.
@naturestrail22963 күн бұрын
I get what you're saying as we normally call it a transmission pan or draining the trans fluid but is it transmission hydraulic fluid technically basically an oil based hydraulic fluid?

I just did the service of my 2017 Nissan Rogue here in Canada. Couple of differences though, I used my scan tool to reset the counters on the transmission. Also there's an inline transmission filter you should have changed on the vehicle. And I would not use the factory CVT fluid it's not very good, try amsoil full synthetic CVT fluid, a much more robust and superior CVT fluid.
@vroomsgarageatv Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info I didn’t know there was an inline filter i figured there might be one in the pan. Next time I’ll use a better oil I’m use to using factory spec stuff

@@vroomsgarageatv There are two filters. Theres a strainer filter underneath the drain pan and a cartridge filter on the trans cooler which is a cartridge filter off to the side.

@johnmar7701 Жыл бұрын
There are suppose to be magnets in the oil pan and two filters inside the oil pan. They both need to be cleaned/replaced. Magnets and tranny pan need to be removed and cleaned off, then a new gasket put in. You need to take the pan off and do this right for long life.

Same. If you look at the most replayed moments of the video, it's exactly on the moment he removes the cap. And the cap doesn't remove the way he says it does. Something is fishy, he may have removed it prior to filming or something, but the lever doesn't work the way he shows it does, so everyone keeps reviewing this segment trying to understand how it works with no success.
