Actually Demond is his middle name, his full name is Grady Demond Wilson. Another actor who used his middle name as his first name is Bruce Willis, his full name is Walter Bruce Willis. I think Bruce Willis sounds cooler than Walter Willis or if he chose Walter B. Willis. So many of the actors and actresses either change their name completely or shorten it. Like Lee Majors, his full name is Harvey Lee Yeary. Lee Majors sound cooler.

I grew up during the 70s watching Sanford and Son, Demond Wilson also did a Summer series with Denise Nicholas and Kim Fields during the Summer of 1977 called "Baby I'm Back". That was a pretty good series but the networks did not pick it up after the summer. Demond Wilson has a photographic memory, he just needs to read the script once and can remember his lines, too bad that he could not put his skill to work in more television series or movies, but there weren't very many opportunities for black actors during the 70s and 80s.
