I hauled fuel with a 2014 Volvo 730. Loaded at 140k I was averaging 2.8km/l(35.7l/100km) unladen(41,800lbs) I would average 3.5km/l(28.5l/100k.) Mind the work paid a minimum of $130/hr(breakdown),most load I took were 4 hour, one way loaded to empty, paid $1000. I could hammer out a retail station, in 3 hours, deadhead 25 mins load ethanol(45mins) drive 2 hours, unload(45mins) deadhead 2 hours again load another ethanol, drive 2.75hours unload and head back for sleep near the first load of ethanol. 11 loads in a week for just over $10k. I'd I still did it today I was only using 3000l of fuel in the 2 week period. Now it would be tighter but still profitable.

😂 I saw the comments on yours and your right. I’ve been a class A driver for 20 years last January. The one thing I’ve learned is we are a stubborn bunch 🤦‍♂️ I just don’t see what the big deal is. If your puttin miles down your puttin miles down 🤷‍♂️

Your 22.2L/100KM = 10.59 MPG which is what I get with my 1999 F350 grossing around 20-22K total. I was looking at a semi and it would have gotten 7-7.5 MPG loaded. Yesterday I bought a 2005 F450 project truck and I expect I'll only get around 8 MPG. During my search, I changed the load parameters of my regional load board search and here's the results: For my 30' 8,300 Lb. non-CDL truck, there were 17 loads available. At 40' 20,000 lbs. there were 83 loads available. Removing the weight and length restrictions (for a semi) there were 8057 loads available. No matter how you spin it, you simply cannot argue with those numbers! Keep in mind, my regional search is to pick up and drop within 300 miles of Macon, GA. so the maximum loaded distance would be around 600 miles. I search this way because I take care of my 86 year old Mom who has dementia and I have to be home every night. With that many more loads for the semi, the chances of you getting a better and more profitable load are far better. Of the 17 loads available for the non-CDL setup, there were none that worked out for me. Everyone's situation is different. Simply change the load parameters on your load board and see what's available. A little more work and expense for the semi and far greater profit. Yeah, I like my comfortable ride and can squeeze into regular gas stations to avoid the "shame on the mess" truck stops, but as a business decision the semi wins the prize for sure!

I love towing with smaller vehicles. Never gotten into your class of stuff, but pulling a Uhaul trailer 2000km with a Mazda3 is just pure fun. That car could reasonably do 1300kg braked and 500 without brakes. The looks I got always made me chuckle.

pretty good mileage for the weight you are carrying. My uncle was getting 23.06L/100km with a 2022 Kenworth T680 going between Port Aux Basques and St. John's loaded. Depends on the load. Love you channel by the way

100% agree on the pickup instead of a full sized tractor. The cross Canada trip I will not miss this chance to say hi. I’m 99% sure I noticed you dropping off a camper trailer at a motorcross track in Richmond Ontario a few years back. I recognized the truck but I was unloading my shipment and you were gone before I could say hi

Who prefers a built truck over a new truck? What are the pros and cons? Seems to me you can drop just 25k which is half the cost of a new truck regardless of brand. This includes fresh rebuild of whatever year and brand engine/tranny/tcase. Add another 10k and I think u can get a sleeper box plus 5th wh/goose service bed and sell off the box I guess. The obvious pros of the new truck are the technology, the less attention from cops, and the warranty. But which option has less downtime? And less operating expenses?

You might save money but you sacrifice safety. You can’t stop like a big truck. I’ve driven all hotshot set ups and 90% of the time you can’t stop. You pull your wallet out but how much is your life worth?? Safety over saving a buck. I’ve made more money in a hotshot but when it’s wet out and I’m in traffic and crazy traffic I’m not stressing or upside down on the side of the road . You also have to evaluate safety. I use to think like you until I drove a real truck that can handle the load. You should evaluate your life a little more. Not saying it can’t be done but why run at such a risk of failure. Insurance knows the risk and hotshot is much more expensive . Do you consider your advice might cause people to loose there life????

Ummm...you must have had electric brakes because I have disc brakes on my trailer with air ride and it stops on a dime! It will smash ur face on the windshield if it's up to high. It's VERY safe.

I understand it's your preference to drive a pickup but you're giving bad information. You will always make more money in a tractor trailer. Go search a load board and see how many loads are available vs a hotshot setup. Its at worst a few hundred loads to thousands of more loads available in any given area for a tractor vs a hotshot. Have you ever even driven a semi that was built in the last ten years? They get 7-10mpg loaded. A semi will also have longer intervals between maintenance. Even with the more expensive maintenance costs you're going to have much higher revenue to afford it. There's a reason all the KZfaq hotshoters have been stepping up to semis. You make more money, it's easier to find loads, and the ride is so much more comfortable with air ride. Again there's nothing wrong with wanting to stay in hotshot but it's just not cool to lie about taking home more money at the end of the day in one. Hauling Cash has a bunch of videos that go in depth with hard numbers to back it all up. He ran hot shot and semis. Now he has his own authority with like 10 trucks (both hotshot and semis) on it. I also own an F350 and I ended up driving a semi after doing the numbers.

Pick up trucks are cool, if you drove a semi you would just be a generic trucking youtube channel that's boring so being a pick up truck towing big heavy stuff is funny and good to watch.
