Neo-nazis were using "1844" for a bit because too many people were recognising the codeword "1488", and they wanted it to sound even more unhinged when someone tried to unmask them. In all probability the ad wasn't directly programmed by neo-nazis though. Might just be computer generated by an algorithm that had too much 4chan in its training data, or written by someone who was seeing the code floating around and thought it was a meme number like 420 or 69.

Let me explain to you the first ad's caption. In 1844, the US was still barely growing. People were allowed to claim any piece of land as long as they farmed it themselves. This is why kids from 1844 will get it, because their parents were constantly looking for unclaimed land, and the game is about claiming more land.

As shitty as the game ads may be, he totally missed the joke. It’s essentially making fun of the “Only 90s kids will get this” by taking it to an extreme such as 1844. It’s also a double entendre because it has the plot of 1840s epidemic of claiming unclaimed land. It’s honestly a brilliant joke.

1. Find a tree, bush, or stump that is at least 6 inches tall. 2. Unzip and whip it out. 3.
