Today’s task is to start applying the KRend basecoat to the external walls. We used the HP12 basecoat.

Nice job I'm gonna put mine on with two top coats as I've seen people scratch it back and the base coat is coming through but if you've got the same colour on the bottom coat it won't notice also it sticks like s*** anyway if not I just put SBR over everything and then put the first coat on and mesh it then scratch it each to their own many thanks
@darrenthebuilder3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes you gotta have it on the right thickness. Sounds good 😊 hope it goes well
@lukekitcher11753 жыл бұрын
I always put a tight 2 or 3mm just so it takes to the scratch coat then a thick 10 or 12mm second coat. Krend can go tits up quick if you don't know what your doing.

Hi I’m after a bit of advise please, I’m an experienced renderer but never used K rend before. I applied the HP12 base coat over a month ago now too a friends garage and going next week too finish up, my question is will I need too SBR the base coat with it being so dry or at the least soak with water or can I just go straight on top? Thanks.
@darrenthebuilder3 жыл бұрын
Hi I know you need to give 24hrs between the coats but I doubt theirs a maximum time. I don’t even think you need to wet it as the base coat is very waterproof so doubt it will absorb much anyway. Is just go straight on.
@suddy073 жыл бұрын
Hi sorry to bother you, on brickwork could you tell me how many square meters do you get from a bag base coat and also top coat on brick, I’m a plasterer but never rendered and wouldn’t mind doing my bungalow. Cheers Steve
@darrenthebuilder3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, you should get about 1.5 - 2 square metres out of a bag. That’s both basecoat and top coat.

Do you put any sealer of the blocks before base coat?
@darrenthebuilder3 жыл бұрын
No sealer required. You can apply this direct to the blocks. If it’s an existing rendered painted surface I would use a primer first. This product has very good adhesion.
