Watching this video I understand a bit more about K rend having seen the finish. It does have a nice finish I admit. I remember seeing a black coloured render on a building the other day which looked really nice and I wondered how it had been done. Now I understand that that was K rend for sure. Please invest in an FFP3 mask, all that dust in your lungs is a killer. I use the JSP force 8 from screwfix. All the best 😉😉

You’d be better off beading up again with 6mm beads reapply small layer, leaving to set and scraping before it sets, you won’t have scraping difficulty all day and only costs half the original materials to rectify

4-36 hours isn't a choice mate. You have to scratch same day or next morning at the very least. U can't choose... also no basecoat means every time it rains the morter joins will grim through. If u need any tips call Campbells Plastering

Is this job hassle because of the drying times and weather? Everyone seems to promote it as easy and they’re all making a fortune especially the ones that are spraying it on but finding the truth is hard as honest guys now are hard to find. I’m old school only done sand and cement in the past and fucked that off because of the weather and prefering to work indoors.

In my experience on doing k rend jobs, I-bar and scratch the same day as application is aways best. I have only ever done it the following morning when it between 5c-0c over night. You should always be putting the render on early in order to finish same day, 7am start on cool days and have the render on no later than 11am. In the i-bar process you should always have 3-4mm thickness past the bead so if the render is still too soft to bar, have a long tooth scraper handy to open up the render to let it go off then you should be able to bar it off quicker. Then scratching off should be easy, using any dust that falls down to fill any holes (the dust will still be quite moist and easy to manipulate, rather than completely dry if doing it the next day) And obviously the final finish thickness should be no less than 10mm as there will be light patches throughout the finish if any thiner. The base coat should only be thin, to seal the block work and bed the mesh in

Thanks for the useful info. Why does the k rend need to be scratched at the end? Surely like internal plaster it’s better to have smooth finish - uneducated guess. Thanks in advance.
@tobynewman6405
@tobynewman6405 2 жыл бұрын
@@almusti k rend is a scratch finish render. Once the render is scratched it then shows the colour it is meant to be. I personally think that k rend looks miles better then sand and cement due to the slight texture and the colours are very accurate. I think some people think k rend has way more of a texture than it does, like rough cast render which you see on old cottages. Painted sand and cement can peel over time which then requires re painting.

well that looks terrible, not being troll but ad some accelerator same day, take the skin off it 3-4 hours later, bar it with an I section then leave it 1-2 hours depending on temps and scratch up very gently!!!!!! Grey is a crap colour anyway and casts shadows. the best solution to cover this would be a Krend primer then a thin coat Tc15 type product which can be put on directly on to scraped texture as long as its not been painted! K-rend provide a data sheet for this. I would bite the bullet and pay out my own pocket. I have been in this situation and that's why my view is what it is. Seen your work before and ive seen you do some good graft in the past.
