I have one that got the battery and then a 3 pack tips from temu. I do field work and come across needing to solder wires together when not around a plug and these come in handy being able to do that and not have to deal with making sure have butane for the old butane one had before. I don't use it for delicate electronics but for my use out in the field with just joining broken wires in harnesses, works great

I do not like that conical has become default tip for soldering irons, I hate using them and only Chisel and Beveled works for me.

Well you charge both of these bad boys and double your work time. I kind of like it and it doesn't light my PCB on fire like butane! Looks plenty hot. 🤘

Agreed Pat..I've never been a fan of butane either. Having a dual charged setup is definitely a bonus !

As battery technology has improved, these small little cordless irons are becoming much more usable. With that design though at that price, it is built to be thrown away when the battery / tip are end of life.

True enough..disposables are the new norm. Well at least they supply 2 with this package.Oddly enough I've use the iron for 40 minutes on one particular job and it still had some power left. Will be interesting to see the longevity.

i have one and its really good for the usual small stuff, but not capable of soldering thicker cables or similar, as the heat is absorbed into the work piece

Excellent video, thanks Darren. By the way, spare tips for those are very cheap on Ebay or Aliexpress. I have several and they are exactly the same as the ones that fit those little 5v blue clear plastic USB soldering irons from a couple of years ago. This is a great deal, though....thanks.

Coolness, I now have a replacement for my Iroda butane one which is cumbersome needing a butane (though it has a torch tip replacement for some tempering sometimes, maybe it could be a companion) for high elevation repairs (don't need to possibly dangle the amazing KSGER w/ OLED display soldering- get that one too, the one with built-in hot SMD blower 2 in 1 stylish silver and stainless steel soldering pen option). The problem would be the tips though, one may need to go really hot (could burn the heating element in the tip if that's how it's heated) to compensate (uneven heating); conical may not have the thermal mass and that could have problems with thick gauge wires (solid especially), unless there are different tips (I'm a bevel tip guy as go to tip). The tip looks like it uses Weller style tips, is it compatible with Weller type tips (the amazing KSGER w/ OLED display uses Hakko tips and Hakko type tips). God bless, Rev. 21:4

This one is similar to HandsKit U5V8W, that’s much more common in my region. They're almost the same, but control differently. Instead of pressing five times to on/off, you hold the button for 2 seconds. Then you single press to switch between 3 presets: green (~350 °C), blue (~400 °C) and red (~450 °C). I personally find it easier to operate that way. However, with just 8W they don’t have high thermal capacity so the temperature fluctuates even when working on small to medium joints. So maybe you get used to this "hold the button to keep the heat" type of controls. Controls aside, for the price this is an interesting soldering iron. Especially, when you get not one, but two of them in the kit.🙃 And even though I think TS100 will give a much better overall experience, I'd give this one a try.

I like the hold 2 sec on/off method of your Handskit. 5 clicks on/off is a little wonky but nonetheless gets the job done. Presets would've been nice but I guess at this price it's likely not going to happen. It's no TS100 but it's still really useful for most quick soldering jobs.

@@KeepOnTesting It sure comes in handy. 👍 The best part is, since it’s that affordable, you can just grab one to be your spare for when you don’t need to use your big guns. Just press a button and it’s ready in like 20 seconds. In addition, TS100 while being great and portable, still requires a power source.

@@KeepOnTesting The funny thing is that the manual for HandsKit U5V8W says its USB cable should be heat-resistant. To me it looks like an ordinary cheap micro-USB, so I never tested it. But your cable has a visible melted dent on it. So I guess it’s just a false advertisement. Don’t know why they're doing it. 🙂

@@KeepOnTesting I have it probably 2 months after they start selling it officially.. This soldering done a lot of work and survived all these years.. I don't even remember how long it's been and continue to work in full healthy 😂.. Yes it's expensive but for me it's worth.
