@catinabox3048
@catinabox3048 2 жыл бұрын
Early/mid-30's is WAY too late. By then, everyone around you will be worried and wondering what's wrong with you. Also, what Chinese people call houses are actually more like 700 square feet condos. So not as lavish as you might think. The mentality is that if someone doesn't at least have a stable living situation and mode of transportation, they're not in a place to be thinking of raising children and supporting parents. In Western countries people often don't think long term when they start dating. In China it's considered wasting time if you're dating without marriage and children and taking care of each other's parents as part of the deal.

Eh, no. I will still only date one person at a time, if turns out that we're not compatible, then I date someone else. I can't imagine going out with different guys to the movies or to the bar alone (with romantic feelings) during the same period. We call that "fishing", you get all your fish on the hook, then you pick the one you like best, and leave the others as "backups". That's considered very bitchy btw. I can't stand my partner doing the same to me, so nope. I don't think my boyfriend should already have a house and a car if he wants to marry me, but he should have a good stable career (I will too), so that we can reasonably soon work towards buying a house after we're married.

yeah tbh i hate the western dating culture. i mean you make small talk on your date, "oh whatre you up to this weekend!" then you're expected to lie because you have another date with another person? is your life really that void that you have to date multiple people to keep it interesting/busy? it also makes it harder to be authentic or truly yourself while dating too.

This makes me feel a little uncomfortable. It does show why some men in Western countries don't like the women. Many Chinese women, however, do admire the openness of Western women, and they want to be that way too. Also seen here, the words for "boyfriend/girlfriend" and "date" really do have different meanings between the cultures. There's an actual semantic difference in the language, in addition to the differences in emotions and behavior.
@mime3761
@mime3761 4 жыл бұрын
"It does show why some men in Western countries don't like the women". I think it's high time we stop talking about the west as if it were just one country / culture. Especially when it comes to women, two neighbouring countries like Italy and France are quite literally day and night.

@@fattyacid1901 no, it's not. Ending's just an American-sounding bartender calling two American laowai freaks, which is hardly representative of the west as a whole. And as you already can see from a couple comments here, "don't put us all in the same boat" may very well pass as a (US) liberal vs conservative kind of remark.

@@mime3761 Sure. There are significant differences between America and Europe. I'm American. I've never lived in Europe. I've learned a little about the culture from others. I've lived in China. There is such a thing as Western culture. There is Eastern/Oriental culture. These are broad categories, divided into many smaller ones. I'm rather sure that the difference between American culture and Western European culture, although quite significant, is smaller than the difference between either of those and Chinese culture.

I am Chinese and grew up in China, but then went to the UK for university. I went from being monogamous to polyamorous, so it's very interesting to see the differences here in one video. With my first boyfriend, we agreed that we were dating and I was already calling him my boyfriend by the time we went out on a first date. Prior to that we were friends and we would see each other at group gatherings with other people - us going on a first date, just the two of us, was very intimate. I was taught growing up that I should never be alone with a boy unless we were dating. Now I am in the UK and am very polyamorous. I have several partners who I am dating at the same time, and don't really plan to get married in the traditional sense. It's a good life! Both methods are valid, I don't think polyamorous people are "freaks". It's interesting to see the two extremes being played out here but whatever works for them and makes them happy is fine.

You are freaks. But its alright. Cities are filled with people, who want easy money, easy status and easy sex. Being polygamic is the same as trying to satisfy any of your desire. The same ass jerking off or eating till diabities. The best food is always made on your kitchen by you or people you love. The same as the best sex. And its your fortune to understand it sooner or later.

Compared with the West, China is a very conservative society, and it has higher requirements for women's sexual ethics. This is not just a question of culture, but a question of the degree of social development! The current status of Chinese women is only equivalent to the West 60 years ago~

I really love the perspective of the polyamory style, however the last comment of the bartender is kinda offensive for the polyamory community. It can be freak also being with just one person just for avoiding loneliness or just the concept of having kids in these days.
