As a white person, I’ll try to do more to make sure Black people I don’t know well feel respected and comfortable enough to give me their honest opinion. I think white people tend to believe a harmful and unfair stereotype that all Black people are highly assertive, so we assume if a Black person is agreeable, it’s always sincere. Some are assertive, and some aren’t, just like everyone else. We can create a little more space to make sure we aren’t inadvertently pressuring someone to be agreeable about something that really isn’t okay for them.

I am a conservative...and to be honest, Dave Chappelle can reach me with his points that he makes in his comedy more than a public debate with people I consider friends that are on the other side of the isle. He teters on the side of parody which is what SNL is known for, but in order to do that he equally rips both sides. He makes his feelings known indirectly about specific issues but adds perspective through satire. Something that may on SNL cast have been unable to do. Because just as he satires one side...he turns around and gives the other side of satirical Political positioning. He is a very wise comedian. While I don't agree with who he votes for, or every issue under the sun with him.....he can get me to laugh. Get me to think about what he is saying and promotes independent interpretation and thought while giving a satirical spin on things. He is fair. Nobody is spared in his comedy. He is equally harsh to all people, all situations, and all political viewpoints. Granted he is brutal at times....but he is a comedian. Not there to console for feelings or lead a mob. He is there to lighten a very heavy topic. His overall message in all of his comedy even going back to his earlier days has been an undertone of accepting people for who they are and that we have to live in this country together. For me he is a good example of what an American is.

It's not even true. Sure if you're a comedian people are paying you *to be funny* , but Chapelle already defies this. Many of his "comedy" shows aren't even filled with many jokes. And basically every political comedian(Colbert, Stewart, Noah, Oliver, Meyers, Maher . . . ) take moments to make serious commentary. And if that doesn't work, he could always speak (gasp) _for free_ . "The world's falling apart, why won't someone pay me to fix it?! 😢"

@@bebe553 Chappelle with that line was being statistical and thinking about populations DJTs 'Very fine people on both sides' was a statistical statement because it dealt with populations (ie the 'both sides') and made a claim about them. It was very similar to comments you hear about police. How there are 'a few bad apples'. People have trouble with police criticism because they know, they *know* they could find a good police officer The trouble with that justification is that Abraham said the same thing about Sodom and Gomorrah, and God said: "Good luck finding them!" and in the end He let Lot and his family go and He torched both towns I like to tell people when it comes to the police "there are a few good apples!" in these PDs in our cities and towns and see what they say. These are the only government agencies whose problem (ie crime) can get smaller and they get budget increases year after year. I'm from a town where they could absorb the police into transportation and traffic, something like that and we would all save money, how about that? The deficit. Who's worrying about that? Dave knows that these situations are crazy and he puts the shoe on the other foot. Harvey Weinstein was very much a donor to the Democratic Party. A lot of 'nice' and 'smart' university professors were on those Epstein guest lists. We need to take a look at ourselves where we have total influence and find fault, not be so excited to find fault in the other side where we have no influence that's right out of the beginning of Mt 7 Thats how much was going on in that joke, Dave knows that stuff. That's why I'm proud to be a late 80s baby. We were Chappelle's biggest fans in the mid 2000s and we loved him

What amazing is that he was not afraid of saying the truth & it wasn’t offensive. “Where was your secret serum while your friends were fighting for their lives?” Exactly right!!! This election result said more about Americans and the people who support a man as him. After 3.3 Trillions into corporate taxcut to push market up and 10 Trillions more. Market that he claimed excellent crashed in record twice in 2018 and three times in 2019. 40% crash in 2020. 2017 he was still riding on coat tail. US companies and farmers were in trouble with tradewar that went nowhere. NK still shooting their missile and making more nukes. Letting 100s captured isis run loose. Turn our back on allies and those who helped us defeated isis. Fought with all of our friends. Made false claims and baseless claims. Insults our friends and everybody. Manipulated doj. Pardoned all of his friends who lied under oath. And so on and so on .... but We know what really happened regardless !!!

@@taurus1962 I think that's the point. Historically feminism was never about equality. Black free men (bought freedom and born free) could vote before white women and this pissed them off. Black women tried to join the movement and speak at meetings but were barred from doing so. In fact Sojourner Truth's famous poem performed at one of these meetings is a black woman's plea to be considered woman enough to be a part of women's rights. So that's why the slave joke was ok but the wage gap wasn't. The gap between white men and black women is greater than the gap between white men and white women.
