I was today years old when I learned that David Archuleta was a real person and not just an Icarly character 🙈🙈

I didn’t know that Wade Collins is a parody of David Cooke. I thought he was a random character that was a jerk. Now I feel bad for David Cooke.

I wonder if David Cook said no to some of those opportunities first, and that's why iCarly basically bullied him 😅

That episode of Hannah Montana was so emotional to me, such a nice thing for Miley to do. I feel like episodes like that growing up made me become a good person. Nickelodeon would never, they never forced any morals on the audience

I think one element here is winning American Idol was a bit of a curse because they had a decent amount of control over you - especially in the first year. If they felt that going on kid's shows was not David Cook's brand, he wouldn't be able to go on it.

And Fred was on both iCarly and Hannah Montana too.

The episode of iCarly is so funny season 2-3 of the show is such peak sitcom. All the jokes about the loser getting nothing is so funny for no reason

I had know idea that he was a real celebrity I just saw him on “iCarly” & “Hannah Montana” & didn’t see or think about him again. Plus I was like 8 years old & didn’t watch “American Idol” so since he wasn’t promoted on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel he flew by me

Major David Cook fan here . They both play the same kind of venues these days. Cook actually chose to be indie as he didn't like the commercial industry. He's got a very dedicated fan base that travels everywhere to see him and is always doing something. David never mentioned his sick brother on Idol. It was only known through the media . Still, I think that storyline was stupid . The Davids are still friends to this day

No disrespect to Archie, but I think the pinnacle of reality TV runner-up success is by far his successor, Adam Lambert. The guy went on to have an even more fruitful music career and is now the lead singer of Queen. I reckon that's a bigger and more notable accolade than appearing in Hannah Montana. And of course, that's not even getting into the subject of X Factor third-placers One Direction...

The iCarly episode was one of my all time favorite episodes and Hannah Montana's was okay but the duet was one of my favorite songs from that season. I think the last time I stopped watching Idol was when Jordin won. And then I came back when the show announced next season will be its' last...and then they lied and moved to ABC for the rest of its' run. I watched the first ABC season and that was it. I haven't kept up with the winners like Trent Harmon who, unpopular opinion, I always rooted for. And Maddie Poppe, who from the few songs I've heard, is pretty underrated. In fact, considering the history of talent competition shows, I wonder if there's a series like One Hit Wonderland or Trainwreckords where they explore where whichever contestant of whichever show is now and if they still record music, reviewing their discography. Finished the video: I didn't know about the shade against David Cook! Holy shit! And then, the Wade Collins video grabbed the attention of Ginger Fox and led to another episode where they shade Britney Spears!

Clay Aiken and Katharine McPhee were both significantly more successful than Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks, and Clay Aiken even kept Ruben's lead single from going to #1 after the finale of AI Season 2.

His bother dying is not problematic to the writing of the episode. Children’s TV, especially old Nick, is infamous for being loud, campy, and over the top. Drawing direct comparisons to Wade and David feels weird and like a stretch. *Teenagers* wanted Archie to win, the episode is written for teens. Idk if you’ve been a teen girl, but let me tell you we viewed anyone who wasn’t the apple of our eye as the e n e m y. Sometimes drawing lines where the don’t need to be is creating unnecessary dramas. The writers had no control over Cook’s brothers death clock, and making Wade actually sympathetic would be bad TV. It’s that simple.
