Once again I visit this wonderful song from a fella that make losing my wife of 38+ years a bit less painful. Just an old hippie missing his lady from 38+ years. May that kind of love bless you all.

As the song progresses, the urgency, the power, the emotions grow more and more where Bowie is having trouble holding on to himself from taking off into space. If this song doesn't do it for you, there are few that will. It is unbelievable.

This song just about drives me crazy because even though I’m 69 I’ve listened to good rock and roll since I was 13 years old. Something about this song makes me wanna get up and go. Get on my old Harley and just head west. Ride until I see the ocean. I’ve done it several 4:18 times but was younger. I have a lot of life left and I can still have my day as a hero even if it’s just my thoughts. Love and miss Bowie.

David Bowie and this band hit it out of the park with this masterful performance. Best preformance of this remarkable song among the many. The passion and energy of Bowie was really elevated and the band was awesome. That drummer just killed it. The bass player, Gail Ann Dorsey, was outstanding. Loved her smile at 1:35 and the frequent camera shots on her performing . Can't stop watching and listening to this performance. Love it when the main performer and the band are so into it and animated. This was exceptional. Bowie is a legend.

In another era, like todays era, Bowie wouldn't be tolerated as an artist. He's too different and does not conform. His voice isn't fake and autotuned. He would be first one out on a talent show dressed like Ziggy. He'd end up on a drag show. Say a big THANK YOU to the seventies, a time when you could be anything you like, dress like no one else, write songs that weren't just repetitive shit and didn't need to get your arse out to suck up too your followers. God Bless the seventies and God, anybody's God, bless dear Bowie. With love to all x

All the reactions to this song are on the live one from Berlin 2002. They don’t know what they’re missing. This is the superior live version. The instruments aren’t buried in the mix like the other one, it’s mixed better. The ethereal droning guitars come through much better on this one.

I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing will drive them away We can beat them, just for one day We can be Heroes, just for one day And you, you can be mean And I, I'll drink all the time 'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact Yes we're lovers, and that is that Though nothing will keep us together We could steal time, just for one day We can be Heroes, for ever and ever What d'you say? I, I wish you could swim Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim Though nothing, nothing will keep us together We can beat them, for ever and ever Oh we can be Heroes, just for one day I, I will be king And you, you will be queen Though nothing will drive them away We can be Heroes, just for one day We can be us, just for one day I, I can remember (I remember) Standing by the wall (by the wall) And the guns shot above our heads (over our heads) And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall) And the shame was on the other side Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever Then we could be Heroes, just for one day We can be Heroes We can be Heroes We can be Heroes Just for one day We can be Heroes We're nothing, and nothing will help us Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay But we could be safer, just for one day Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-ohh Just for one day
