No, China does not need to look to the US for inspiration in governance, if anything, the US should look to China for some inspiration in solving some of their societal issues.

Goldman is very knowledgeable on issues related to China. I agree with most of his judgements, except his conclusion remark that China needs US as a political system aspiration. The US political system is broken and needs profound reforms.

I agree with 95% of Goldman says. However when it comes to governance comparison he is woefully misinformed. We the US currently have an extremely inefficient, ineffective government, controlled by the 0.1%. Not my words but conclusions of a multiyear study by Princeton University. Our leaders are almost all lawyers with zero understanding of diplomacy, technology, or history. While the Chinese have an exceptionally well oiled and run governance system that takes into account of opinions and desires of the ppl on the group and local level. And, they are continuously refining that system while we are beholden to a document written more than 200yrs ago by a bunch of old white men.

I can see David's point that a strong USA offering tough competition to China is good for China. Because at the end of the day, it will make China stronger.

The book title is so wrong. It is quite a fear-mongering title. What is it's purpose? To sell the book? Surely, he doesn't need the money.

David Goldman is correct about the old China and Chinese in general. However Mao has transformed China into a modern China of Confucius with Marx Christian values culture that China never have in her 5000 yrs civilization. Today unofficially, 10 % of Chinese are Christian. Again, that is a first in Chinese civilization. To me, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” is better describe about today Chinese than today Americans. We Americans need to confess and repent now, for we had been unfaithful to our Father God and our fellowmen.
