@@ChikinJake question: is the limit of my overhead squad the limit of my snatch? I cannot do it with 50kg but with 40kg and 40kg I can also snatch
@ChikinJake
@ChikinJake 8 күн бұрын
This question is very dependent on your body type. For me, I put a lot more focus into my squats and bench the first few years of training. Because of this, I’m currently rely more on my strength than my technique in oly lifts. With this excess of strength, if I get under a snatch I almost always have it without question since I have such a strong overhead squat but I have started switching more towards focusing on technique over strength. From the sound of it, you’re more reliant on your technique over overall strength so you may whip under a heavy snatch faster than me but it’s more difficult for you to stand it up. There is no better way to lift to me. If you think your oly lifts would benefit from training back, front, and overhead squats more then go for it and see what happens. What I’ve learned from this sport is that the majority of getting better is committing to trial and error while having your body’s health as the main priority to reduce risk of injury while you try new ways of training. Your body will always be changing so if you’re reaching a peak right now it might be beneficial to focus more on your squats for a while and when you peak on your squats you can always go back to more focus on the oly lifts.

Hella impressive. Question, I just started doing Olympic lifts and I don’t like the snatch at all but I do the power clean. Is the snatch really needed? (I don’t compete btw)
@ChikinJake
@ChikinJake 14 күн бұрын
Great question. So snatching should only be done if you want to train Olympic lifting specifically. If your an athlete, you don’t need anything beyond power cleans since they’re safer and train that same explosiveness. The only thing I recommend to everyone is that you train your mobility so just make sure you’re able to comfortably ass to grass squat with good clean form for your body’s longevity in the sport.

Hey Jake! A few Qs about your program: I understand the linear progression moving through weeks. An 8 day training week with the main lifts 3x / week So far so good. I am stuck in understanding the progression within the training week: For eg the Sn is 3x - W1 S1: 70% x 5 x 3 S2: 65% x 5 x 3 S3 same as S2 So the main focus is more technical practice with S2 and S3? With S1 of every week driving progress?
@ChikinJake
@ChikinJake 15 күн бұрын
So for context I train snatch, cl+jk, back squat, and bench press for strength. So the days I go heavier on snatch and cl+jk are meant to isolate strength in those lifts and like you said I do more technical work with oly lifts when I have back squat or bench so I can isolate the strength in squat and bench those days without over fatiguing myself. I like resting after benching since bench strains my shoulders the most and is tough to combine with oly lifts if I’m fatigued.

About 210-215lbs. I appreciate that support. I actually haven’t worn a belt in over 2 years and I swore off sleeves and wraps about 3 months ago so I have no excuses now and I feel much more confident in my overall ability to lift
