How long did it take you to self learn these oly lifts? I’ve been at it 2 weeks on cleans alone and I’m still having tons of technical errors
@ChikinJake57 минут бұрын
Well you’re always learning when it comes to oly lifts. No matter how good I get there will always be something work on and get better at. If you have a coach you can get really good in 6 months to a year but I’m self taught so I didn’t get consistent with good form and mobility until I trained for 2-3 years. Everyone’s different and there’s no perfect way of learning how to oly lift. Just keep doing it and try to increase by even just the smallest percentage every day and the progress will come sooner than you probably think.

How long's the deload phase in your program? You sell your program anywhere? Sets/reps/diet etc. If not, you should, I'd prolly purchase after seeing those gainz
@ChikinJake3 күн бұрын
I appreciate that. I’m gonna slowly increase weight every week on my oly lifts and bench but I’ve gotta take it slow on the squats til my knee is at 100%. I don’t like playing with injury. Also I put my program in the description of the video cause I don’t like selling my personal program. It’s constantly changing to adapt to how my body changes and since I’ve done to trial and error according to my experiences I don’t want to sell a program that wouldn’t work the same for other people. I’d be down to sell personalized programs at some point though for anyone who might want it

Love your passion man. This hits home - I get so stoked to lift I twist my brain into pretzels convincing myself I'm recovered when I'm clearly not. Midway through Sika Squat program and I tried to do the 5x5 @ ~90% 2 days after doing 3x8 @ 90% cuz I'm impatient (while still doing classical lifts) and my right quad is all fucked up now. Don't think it's torn or anything but it's gonna need a week off and now I'm behind where I'd be if I just gave it a few days!! Anyways - keep grinding. Lots of powers and upper body work for me this week...

Man I’m a beginner in the gym but even on the days when I’m way too damn sore to rep out like 225 on squat (315 max soon 🙏) I’ll just do 135 for 15+ reps with pauses and its just a blessing to be able to be in the gym in the first place. Even if I tell myself ‘man this is bitch weight’ because it’s a weaker day for me I have to remind myself how lucky I am to be able to do this and the struggle is why I love the gym

@ChikinJake5 күн бұрын
I appreciate the question. I’ve always programmed myself but find that it’s good to utilize mostly your own experience in the gym while incorporating bits and pieces of advice you learn along the way. The majority of programming will always be trial and error so just make sure you don’t overdo the weight and you’ll make progress. @ChikinJake6 күн бұрын
Much appreciated homie. I’ve actually never had any injury with my knees before let alone surgery. Last week when I hit 445lbs x4 on squat I developed a super minor pull or tear in my left knee tendon so I’ve just been working on the recovery. Thankfully I’ve learned from past experiences and stopped lifting heavy the moment I felt it and there’s been no pain, just soreness, and I can workout normally. It’s just gonna be a good couple weeks of deloading and focusing on isometric work to come back at 100%. The support means a metric ton as well

RDLs are probably best for bulletproofing your low back and hamstrings strength wise but it’s also good to put some attention in your mobility when I comes to squat depth. I also recommend light weight on good mornings.

what's with squatting with the plate under your feet? Does it help knee pain?
@ChikinJake11 күн бұрын
Yeah elevated squats are good for minor strains like with my knee tendon. It focusing the pressure at the ends of my quads toward my knee and fully stretches the tendon. I’m just focusing on getting that confidence back cause it just feels weak, not actually painful at all.

@@ChikinJake question: is the limit of my overhead squad the limit of my snatch? I cannot do it with 50kg but with 40kg and 40kg I can also snatch
@ChikinJake7 күн бұрын
This question is very dependent on your body type. For me, I put a lot more focus into my squats and bench the first few years of training. Because of this, I’m currently rely more on my strength than my technique in oly lifts. With this excess of strength, if I get under a snatch I almost always have it without question since I have such a strong overhead squat but I have started switching more towards focusing on technique over strength. From the sound of it, you’re more reliant on your technique over overall strength so you may whip under a heavy snatch faster than me but it’s more difficult for you to stand it up. There is no better way to lift to me. If you think your oly lifts would benefit from training back, front, and overhead squats more then go for it and see what happens. What I’ve learned from this sport is that the majority of getting better is committing to trial and error while having your body’s health as the main priority to reduce risk of injury while you try new ways of training. Your body will always be changing so if you’re reaching a peak right now it might be beneficial to focus more on your squats for a while and when you peak on your squats you can always go back to more focus on the oly lifts.

Hella impressive. Question, I just started doing Olympic lifts and I don’t like the snatch at all but I do the power clean. Is the snatch really needed? (I don’t compete btw)
@ChikinJake14 күн бұрын
Great question. So snatching should only be done if you want to train Olympic lifting specifically. If your an athlete, you don’t need anything beyond power cleans since they’re safer and train that same explosiveness. The only thing I recommend to everyone is that you train your mobility so just make sure you’re able to comfortably ass to grass squat with good clean form for your body’s longevity in the sport.

Hey Jake! A few Qs about your program: I understand the linear progression moving through weeks. An 8 day training week with the main lifts 3x / week So far so good. I am stuck in understanding the progression within the training week: For eg the Sn is 3x - W1 S1: 70% x 5 x 3 S2: 65% x 5 x 3 S3 same as S2 So the main focus is more technical practice with S2 and S3? With S1 of every week driving progress?
@ChikinJake14 күн бұрын
So for context I train snatch, cl+jk, back squat, and bench press for strength. So the days I go heavier on snatch and cl+jk are meant to isolate strength in those lifts and like you said I do more technical work with oly lifts when I have back squat or bench so I can isolate the strength in squat and bench those days without over fatiguing myself. I like resting after benching since bench strains my shoulders the most and is tough to combine with oly lifts if I’m fatigued.
