Most of my favorite Little House episodes were about Laura and Almanzo. I liked that Dean had such a good experience on that show.

What a fabulous interview, every answer Dean gave was definitely from the heart. It really is lovely to know that the story along with the shows are special to him, like they are to us! I know that the interview has already been taped, but I would have asked Dean if he had any children & did they grow up realizing that Daddy was actually Almanzo Wilder? By the way, Dean mentioned that Eliza Janes love interest was Harve Bennett...it was Harve Miller. I will never forget that story line. So heartbroken for her! Thank you so much for the time to answer these questions for us, it's truly a sweet thing to do for us Little House & Dean Butler fans!!! 🩷

Brilliant interview! It was like listening to university lectures - history, acting, film production etc - and delivered with real passions. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I can listen to Dean Butler for hours. His explanation is very informative, public and yet personal, and easy to follow his thoughts, even though I never met him. I am moved that I will now go and read all Laura’s books in original English language as I’ve only read them in Japanese. Thank you very much.

I love all the Little House actor interviews. Could you find some more actors to interview from the show such as Lindsey and Sidney Greenbush (Carrie), Matthew (Albert Ingalls) and Pat (Andy Garvey) Labyorteaux, Charlotte Stewart (Miss Beadle) Lucy Lee Flippin (Eliza Jane Wilder), Hersha Parody (Alice Garvey), Bonnie Bartlett (Grace Snider Edwards) There are so many townspeople who were around for several seasons and were familiar faces on the show. The older adults are up there in age and won't be around forever. Keep them coming John!

I recall watching the pilot and i was about 14... it is memorable because i went to stay with an aunt and uncle for a short while that night while the folks were at some church social, the funny part is that soon after the first scene of the show, is a man running away from the prairie fire and the man hardly says anything and he screams and runs toward the camera, then he falls down what looks like he falls dead, and my uncle says"Wow, he had such a big part already!" i laughed!

Again another fantastic interview John! Dean Butler is such a joy when listening to him talk about Laura's books. We learned so much more than series let on. Can't wait to watch Part 2. Just my opinion, but not very often do you hear about a guy that is so intrigued by Little House books. Thanks again!

Very interesting episode. I, too, have studied Laura Ingalls Wilder from a historic perspective & have visited all of the sites, read her books & those of Rose's, read her weekly columns that appeared in the Missouri Register, went to the Hoover library, etc. I think Laura had a very contentious relationship with Rose but also with Almanzo as well. I don't think the relationships were as bloomy as everyone thinks. I'd love to discuss it with Mr Butler one day. I hope I get the chance. I think Laura's life at Rocky Ridge would make a fine film but not a weekly series. Interesting episode. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, impressive the research you have done and it also sounds like a lot of fun to visit all of those historic locations. You should definitely see if Dean is attending any festival or event near you. He is just a terrific guy who really cares about the Ingalls legacy. I have enjoyed our conversations so much. Television often lightens the way relationships might truly have been but sometimes like in the case of Little House I think it worked to make it like comfort food for so my viewers and still does😀

Yes your right would have been great that's for sure I wasn't around during that time wasn't alive yet would have been awesome to have been alive during the shows popularity and got to hang with Michael and dean just laughing and seeing them in action or off screen

I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely and candid interview. Dean's views on Laura Ingalls Wilder's life is enlightening. I read her books as a child (and also watched the show), and what stayed with me was the way Pa Ingalls raised his children. I hope to have a husband like him in my next life!! I love Little House on the Prairie. It was my favourite show growing up. I was six years old when the show debuted in 1974. I think every little girl back then fell in love with Almanzo Wilder. Great interview with Dean Butler. I really enjoyed all his insights From working on the little house show. Very interesting to hear about what Michael Landon was really like. I did not know that Michael Landon was really Jewish and his given name was Eugene Norwitz, and that he spoke fluent Yiddish and Hebrew.

Season 6 was one of my favorite seasons of the show cause it covered a lot of the whole Laura and almanzo relationship he always saw her as a little.girl she loved him from the start took almanzo a little while to notice her till she fixed herself up to look older and all when she wanted to be a teacher

What Dean spoke to Michael after that thump in the first episode where he appeared? In all honesty, Dean Butler is one of my favourite actors, he has a genuine personality and therefore, he is a lot like me. He is the sort of bloke that you would love to have as a mate. My favourite episode is the one where him and John Carter had that disasterous trip, where nothing went right.

I wish Pa had been on the blind School lobbyist trip with Ma, Adam and friends in “Darkness is my Friend” so that Laura would have to go to Almanzo for help against the thugs that held Mary hostage. But Landon would probably have said “Dean…don’t you DARE steal MY thunder!”

Dear John Cato, thank you very much for these great interviews with my favorite stars from my favorite series Little House on the Prarie. I have a big request for Dean Butler, does he still have the clothes from the series, especially the clothes from his first appearance? If so, I would be very happy if he would slip into these clothes for us fans. I also have a question for Dean Butler, would it be possible to have everything rebuilt from scratch in Big Sky Movie Ranch Simmi Valley, exactly where everything stood, such as the church and Nellie's restaurant, for example, so that everything could really be rebuilt the way it was in the original one was? That would really be a huge dream. Kind regards from Germany

She didn't call you Manly because your name was Almanzo, she called you Manly because Eliza said your nickname was Manny so Manny to Manly wasn't a stretch. I think what they missed is that none of your family actually called you Manny - your sister and two brothers all called you Almanzo. I think I heard Eliza call you Manny just a couple of times.

Michael Landon was doing everything on the show and running the business. To have these actors complain about how little they were paid is being a bit selfish. The amount the actors are paid now is too crazy.

Michael Landon was pretty incredible. Behind the scenes there are many things that happen we may never completely understand though.
