DELL Inspiron 15 3521 Full Disassembly and Reassembly

Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your Dell 15 3521 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.

Even though I went to school for computers, they never really taught us about laptops back in 2002-2004. I had to look at this video, because Dell removed my cooling fan when I sent my laptop in for repair. They claimed a spill is what caused the motherboard to go out, and they tried to charge me $296 bucks. Finally, when they sent my laptop back, I checked out the insides to see if what they said was true. I then discovered the cooling fan to be missing. I bought this laptop through a furniture store, and now they are getting to the bottom of it. Now since the cooling fan is missing, I don't believe them about a spill, and a new motherboard. If push comes to shove...I can replace the motherboard myself for less then $100 bucks. Thanks for the upload. :)

+regazzz I need help! I am trying to clear out my laptops fan, but I figured I could just remove the keyboard like you did, would that be ok or no? If not, may you point me to the specific part/tell me the fastest way to get to the fan to clean it out?

tip : draw on a sheet when the screw go, one sheet per layer, and put the screw on it.

Hello there, I've this same model since 2014, today its turned off, i tried to turn on but lights blink and get off within a second.. its nt turning on, changed the adopter and tried other solutions like remove battery and press power button fr a minute, but still nt working.. what shd i do now?

Which part is the GPU ? My 3521 has 2gb radeon graphics and intel hd But after I opened the laptop and cleaned the fan, the dedicated vram stopped showing up in my device manager, even in bios! Only intel hd 4000 is showing. Help me located the gpu section.

So i took it apart to dust it and now im left with the smallest screw and on the bottom black part of the pc there is one screw missing the one on top of the disk drive. Should i be worried and try to look for where i missed placed the screw?

It is part of the chip set, Most likely a graphics processor, but obviously low power because it doesn't have any heat sinks. I wondered too, but I was attempting to repair my grandpas laptop (this one). So I dont really know, just trying to give an educated guess.

my laptop won't turn on it beeps continuously instead of turning on. beforehand it would overheat quickly. I read it needs more resin on the processor, does this sound about right or could it be another problem?

If it is one beep spaced by 3 seconds, according to dell's documentation, it is the motherboard. I got one from a friend which is in that state. I don't know exactly what to try to revive it. I have removed the bios battery. I have looked for bios reset jumpers but found none. I would be surprised the fan or heatsink would be in cause, because it happens immediately after powering on. The heat has no time to be generated.

lutam921 same problem i had, i brought it to geek squad and the cost of repair was like 1300 more than cost of laptop so they would not repair it, feels bad

please help, I spilt a l about 1-2 ounces of water on the center of the keyboard and [Im using on screen keyboard to type this] when I use the keyboard the I does not work when I hit backspace the screen goes up and down and when I type the letter T this is what happens t5 this is what happens when I type the letter Y y6 when I press the space bar the minimize restore & close window pops up

when I press numbers 5/6 this is what happens [5] t54 [6] y67 and last thing sometimes when I typing out anything it will erase on its own and this is what happens ----------------------------------------------- it goes on and on.

+somaxivySOMAX Hopefully it is only a bad keyboard and it needs to be replaced. There are certain technics on how to clean dry a keyboard, but for some reason it never worked on my laptops.

Yes i got my Inspiron in 2013 also. Crashes all the time. Set real time security and says has never scanned or done updates. Drivers out from the git go. I had downloaded Dell update, Dell assist none of those ever worked. Would tell me not been registered nw day and next say when warranty was up. Very glad you have nit had problems. i had so very many that i went back to my old .. From beginning said i had no storage space. Just a nightmare. Dell from Hell. Lots of other things too numerous to list. It never did the Dell updates nor did it do any kind of scan. The warranty did me absolutely no good. i begged to just send it to be fixed. i did get a call AFTER my warranty was up from get this the number showed up as Dell Tech i hung up on him. No way a Dell tech called me. Thanks for letting me blow and go. lol i have to laugh to keep from crying.

It depends. If the motherboard allows CPU removal - you should be able to change it(some versions of the same laptop might not allow that) Main thing to consider is a chipset of the motherboard and correct laptop CPU that will fit. Second thing is fan, I don't think that the i3 vs i5 will need a much more hear, but would research more on that. And if your motherboard has a soldered/glued in CPU - you can always buy a used but working motherboard with the CPU you need and replace it.

provided you never turned it off (or didn't mind leaving it part open to access the power button) and kept it on charge constantly, yes. Just connect the HDMI to a monitor, set the display to your monitor on windows, plug a kb and mouse in, done.

guzzo9000 Hunh...very strange...now I feel stupid that I made a big issue with Dell about my cooling fan missing when they sent it (laptop) back to me. Maybe it is a factory mistake with this model. WEIRD!!!

MzGumby02 I've had the pc for a while now, and I have to say that the pc doesn't need a fan. It runs perfectly fine for me. But I commented this a while back when I got it because I was confused. XD its a thing with this model not to have a fan, not a mistake. It's just cheap

I would simply go to eBay and search for "Dell 15 3521 DVD Drive" than purchase, install and it should work.

I have the Dell 15 3531. It has a dummy plastic drive in it and doesn't look like there's a connector for the drive at all from looking in the slot.

Absolutely worst computer EVER! They should.do recalls on the Inspiron 15 3521. So many problems and I am still under warranty. I am begging them to fix it. I have tried everything humanly possible for months to fix it. If they don't fix it well... . I would never ever ever ever buy a Dell again.
