Jay tests the brand new Dell Ultrasharp U2724DE Monitor to see if it is any good for playing games!
General observations:
- 120HZ works via HDMI and Thunderbolt 4
- Daisy chaining works connected via DP to connect to another monitor
- The IPS black is very similar to the U2723QE.
- The refresh rate does make a difference visually when playing Fortnite. (What an epic game!)
- A good round monitor for both work and some gaming. (Not so good for videos if you want to watch via 4k)
Hardware Set-Up
- Dell U2724DE connected to a Dell Precision 3581 via Thunderbolt 4
- Dell U3423WE connected into the U2724DE via DisplayPort daisy-chain
- Logitech Streamcam & Logitech Brio for 4k recording
- HyperX Duocast for microphone
- All peripherals connected to the U2724DE monitor.

Can you help me. I'm looking for a monitor to process images and also play games. I was looking at the Dell U2724D model, the response time is 8 ms (normal), 5 ms (fast), and 120 Hz. Would it be able to handle games?????

I've been using the U2724DE for the last week as my third display, I really like it. The U2724DE is way better in a dark room than the U2723QE.

Thanks for the Videos! I'm currently looking to upgrade my monitor setup. recently went from 2x 165hertx 24inch FHD monitors to 2x Dell 2018 27inch QHD. Im an architecture student so i appreciate good screen resolution and colour, but also love playing casual games when i get free time so I really like the 120hertz. My option is to either get one of these new Dell 27 inch QHD or even two if i can stretch my budget, or get a 4k monitor, even tempted to get a 32inch option. Id love to see a review between them. New Sub!

Hi @FrilledProductions, thanks for the sub. The 120hz does seem to make a difference for gaming. The 32" option is really nice if you are doing spreadsheets and business use. I used a U3223QE for a week to test and did enjoy the bigger size. However, If you are a casual gamer I'd be going for 1-2x U2724D/DE.

What about the 5 stars eye comfort certification? Doesn't it make any difference for you? As I'm spending too many hours on screen, I'm looking for a display that will preserve my eyes.

@@devgarg3196 I own this monitor. Due to how IPS works there will be glow, however this has IPS black technology and not only does it dramatically improve contrast and color representation but it also reduces IPS glow to a point where its hard to notice.

Hi, until Friday I was decided to buy U2723QE and now I have a dilemma. Can you suggest which will be better for typical home work, 4K 60Hz or 2K 120Hz? what is more comfortable and better for working with text in ms office or www, higer resolution or refresh. By the way, is it strange that Dell does not have 4K monitors in its business plan for 2024, unless we can expect something else.

Prior to these two monitors being released, I would have said the buy the U2723QE as it is hands down the best premium business monitor. If you are an occasional gamer, I would suggest the U2724D/DE. I would specifically suggest the DE if you plan on running all your peripherals into it and you have a Thunderbolt-enabled laptop/device. I think the 120hz makes a difference for gaming, not general office usage. If you are an occasional video watcher, I would go for the U2723QE as most content is now out in 4k. I've updated the test workstation at our office to run both a U2723QE and a U2724DE and will give you some additional feedback later this week.

@@RonaRigs Thank you very much for your answer and I will be grateful for all practical office suggestions. The monitor will be mainly for work because I try to play on TV, but I allow the option of connecting the console to the monitor, however, I am aware that there are only a few games that run above 60fps and I do not play e-sports. so everything will be decided by what in practice turns out to be better for working with MS Office, Power BI, etc., higher resolution or smoothness

This just really depends on what your use case. Are you trying to be more productive and watch videos? Go with the 4K 60hz panel of the QE. Are you trying to game at high refresh rates? Go with the DE.

Support VRR, so you can turn on G-SYNC Compatible.I just bought this monitor recently, and use nvidia graphics card.

I currently have the monitor and yes it does charge it. Also it has an option when the monitor is off to continue to charge peripherals that are connected.

Just ordered this in Canada. The price is pretty high, considering I can get a Innocn 4k 27" miniled for ~$200 more. But I trust Dell, and this has really nice features like TB4 and daisy-chaining. Should be perfect for casual gaming too. I plan to connect it to ny Legion Go. I just hope there's minimal IPS glow. Thats the one thing yhat bothers me the most about IPS panels.

Hello from Japan! I am thinking about buying a Dell 27 inch monitor.However, I am not sure which one to choose, U2724D or U2723QE. As I am an animator, I would like to prioritize color first. The U2724D seems to have a function to cut out blue lights, but isn't the color cloudy?
