While rebuilding our master shower, I decided to take a minute to make a quick video of how to rebuild an old crusty shower valve. (DELTA 600 Series) Seems common for the handle cap, or collar as I like to call it, to become seized up or stuck over time. The valve body itself cannot handle extreme torque being placed on it while trying to wrench free if extremely tight. The hot and cold tubes coming out of the back of the valve will become twisted and/or sheared off under extreme torque. The valve will leak and need to be replaced which will most likely require the wall to be opened up to access the pipes and valve.
SO DON'T DO THAT!!!
Be gentle...*HINT- If Stuck, try soaking with some PB Blaster or other penetrant a day before!
