I remember seeing this on opening night! The theater was PACKED. Every seat taken and the aisles were filled with kids that bought tickets to some other movie and then snuck over to watch Demon Knight. Everyone was super into it, so nearly every scare on screen caused the audience to scream. It was a great time.

I love Demon Knight. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes due to it being zany, bizzare, wicked, funny, and goofy. William Sadler And Billy Zane did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Brayker and The Collector as they both put tons of emotion and depth into their roles. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍👍💯😎

- Forgot that this movie has Charles "Voice of Roger Rabbit" Fleischer in it :D - They should have made more of these. I know they made that other one with Dennis Miller, but MORE please - This fits my theory that the best villains are villains that are having fun, like Hans Gruber (DIE HARD) & Clarence Boedecker (ROBOCOP). Though not at THAT level, Zane still did a great job!

Well, the "best" villains is a long list once you look at it. And it's a mixed bag, some are gleefully evil like you say but some are either basically sad and angry (Kingpin, Darth Vader, Magneto) or unhinged (Norman Bates, Alex Forrest, Annie Wilkes, Jack Torrance). .

There was a Tales from the Crypt film in 1970s with Ralph Richardson as the Crypt Keeper (he was just an old guy in a cloak). It was an anthology film that featured Joan Collins in a Christmas-themed story that the show remade in the first season. It had a sequel called The Vault of Horror which was a companion comic to TFTC.

If no one else has made the suggestion, I would recommend giving the film Bordello Of Blood a look, given the fact that film was basically a direct sequel to Demon Knight; both Dennis Miller and Angie Everhart would go on to star in the sequel film.

@@wiseguy01 If you consider the fact that both films exist in the same universe and are directly tied together by the relic that is referred to as the Key ( which is weapon specifically used against supernatural creatures) then it kinda is a sequel even though both films involve different stories. Almost similar to the Creepshow film series in that way.
@wiseguy01
@wiseguy01 2 жыл бұрын
@@victorewah2659 the only similarity between them is the inclusion of the key, that is. Other than that the films are totally different. The key does not even serve the same function as in Demon Knight, it is almost useless. Not the universe destroying relic of the previous film. And if these take place in the same universe, which I do not believe, why aren't demon knights and chosen protectors scrambling like crazy to get the key back from these idiots? How they get it away from Jerilyn in the first place? Or avoid the demon knight following her? The key is just being used as a prop for a much less entertaining film, it is irrelevant. This is not a sequel by any interpretation.

I know I said this already but I love this movie. It's all kind of slow played at the start and they don't quite let on what's happening and then the greatest reveal ever happens when Billy Zane puts his fist right through the sheriff's head then rips it off his body. So awesome. For a cinema release it's fairly cheap at around $12 million but they stretch it by filming on mostly the one location. I'm sure there's only a handful of demons they keep using over and over. They use the blood barrier effect only a couple of times then they just flash a red light but by then you don't really notice because you see it in your mind. It's a good example of doing a lot with a little and having the concept and story as well as some great character actors carry any caps in the budget.

I remember waking up randomly on my couch as an 8 or 9 year old and this and bordello of blood played back to back, and 2 years later it happened again which was a far different experience

If you want to see a really good Billy Zane movie, check out Dead Calm, with Sam Neill and Nicole Kidman. Great thriller with an amazing ending.

Didn't expect that here ;D Remember watching it in elementary school. I was like 7 years old and scared as shit but I had a super fun time. One day my mom saw like 15 min of this and that was the last time I had this VHS tape in my hands..

The actor playing Wally? He's also the voice of Roger Rabbit. And he was the sleep tech in the original 'Nightmare on Elm Street'. The one who told Nancy's mom that we don't know what dreams are or where they come from.

Tales From The Crypt (1973) & Vault Of Horror (1973) are two British anthology horror films that used stories from the original comics. I'd love to see a reaction to both of them. Also with the mention of cats, The Uncanny (1977) would be a good choice.

"Demon Knight" is brilliantly done and massively entertaining with an incredible cast. Such a pity the other two films are so excruciatingly bad.

Oh, I remember this one, and I watched this film. And my babysitter was NOT happy watching it... remember, there were no smartphones you could sit and tap on back then. But I watched this one, and she was making all sorts of noises that entailed she wasn't having a good time! I fell asleep if I recall correctly, and my parents came home while the film was on, and the babysitter got in trouble for it. lol.
