I think even though hop did a mag test and didn’t really think the k spec downward venting BCG caused that much buildup, I think over prolonged use, especially suppressed… you’re gonna see a whole bunch of garbage in your mags. Especially with a system like this where the mags have a lot more going on than a USGI 30 rounder. You’re probably going to have roughly 5 of these mags that get rotated out at the range. That’s a lot of carbon buildup in a more complicated magazine

Listen I like Hop. He shot like 10 rounds through each, literally a meaningless amount of testing. I had 5 mags that day, they all went down within 500 rounds collectively with the K spec BCG installed. Also important to note is that the Q mags are much more sensitive than 30 rounders, so how one performs with the downvents isn't really relevant to the others.

I actually did some testing myself with the k spec downward venting bcg as of the past week . It KILLED one of my gen 2 p mags. The magazine partially melted and got stuck on the bolt catch… had to disassemble the mag entirely and then rip it out…. My other p mags are all stiff and don’t like to load because all the carbon has fouled up the followers…I’m going to use it with metal mags and see if I still run into other issues.

You realize that the temperature of the blowback coming out of the chamber is hotter than the gas that comes out of the vents right? There's also video of full auto torture testing along with getting a temperature of the top of the magazine before and after firing, the difference is 3 degrees. You're the only person to ever make this claim it seems. Like I said before, BS.

I wonder how the Quattro mags would fare with a piston gun. Like throwing a Caracal, PWS, or LWRCI upper on to it. You wouldn’t be able to use the KAK bcg, but I think it would make the system more reliable since gas getting blown into the receiver is much less of an issue.

I’m wondering if you had your rifle a little too undergassed for these mags. They have more spring pressure than a regular mag which could cause the next round to push on the bolt carrier enough to not pick up the next round. A lot of these malfunctions looks like undergassed malfunctions imo. Some of them looked like shitty mag malfunctions too though.

The followers being trapped in the body is 100% the mags, also I never got a failure to lock back. So there is enough gas to run the system. Sometimes they just wouldn't feed the next round.

Just thinking out loud here... but it seems a lot of people are hating on the mag and that might be misplaced. You put a BCG that vents gas into the mag, other people have issues with this same bcg affecting feeding in PMAGs and other reliable mags. And this is the quattro-15s fault? Doesn't add up from my perspective. Not saying it's perfect, quad stacks are known to be finicky. I would love to see a side by side comparison with this bcg, other bcgs, suppressed and unsuppressed. Settle the debate, the quattro 15 could be a gamechanger for the civilian LSW concept.

The vents should have never been downward facing. The magwell will have no improvement vs a lower without one. It’s going to vent into your mags and kill them one by one. Get a side venting BCG. There’s a reason downward vents aren’t a thing.

The KAK down-venting BCG probably gummed up the followers and springs in the mags. The down-venting BCG does foul mags a bit quicker than a traditional side-venting BCG, so you have to clean your mags more often. Not a big problem with double stack mags, but I can definitely see it being a problem with quad stack mags.

The use case, I would imagine, is D60s kinda suck to carry on a standardized loadout in quantities greater than “I have one in my rifle” thanks to their shape. A bunch of the Quattro mags in, say, a grade of SPUD pouches might be more useful.

Dang- you hate to see it happen when a company innovates or tries something novel. I wonder how many rounds it took until failure. Would certainly like to see a 'post op dissection/analysis' and spring check on the mags, because I bet all that down-fed suppressor gunge didn't do any favors to the chonky mag springs. I'm also wondering if you'd get the same problem with the Schmeisser 60 rd coffin mags, or even the Magpul drums- with that much debris getting blasted inside. Or, heck, do 30rd mags eventually have the same problem?

I pre-ordered a Quattro lower as soon as it was an option. Months after every KZfaqr got one, mine showed up. With half of all the holes positioned and sized out of spec. So I sent it back. And got the replacement a few weeks ago. Which is better but still has loose holes for the hammer pin. So for 300 dollars, I had to wait almost a year for a lower that still has shit tolerances. Quad stack mags are great in concept. It just sucks that such a shit company with zero QC and slow service had to be the one to bring it to market.

It's the magazines. They're quad stacked so they have a more complicated follower+ spring setup. They're for the proprietary lower he's reviewing, but I've seen other videos where people are having similar issues with the mags.

He was firing the rifle over gassed with a downward venting bcg (shits out all the carbon directly into the magazine) while also running a high back pressure suppressor. Despite what you might be hearing from all the tards in this comment section it's enough to kill any magazine that's more advanced than a basic Pmag given enough rounds. I.e. he created an abnormal and unforgiving set of arbitrary conditions which artificially induced failure. While pretending it's natural.

I love your videos... but I think your title and video is misleading, considering you don't even mention the KAK BCG with the down vent in the title. Then, you flash the BCG down vent info on the screen for 15 seconds and never mention it again. Makes it seem like these mags are trash without being clear that the BCG is pumping hot, dirty carbon into the mags. The BCG seems more to blame than the mags, especially after seeing one of the other commenters had a similar issue with the KAK BCG using PMAGS...
