No one is a natural runner until we discipline ourselves to do it. Then it can become addicting-believe it or not. I have friends that were not “natural runners” st all and literally hated running or never even thought of it. At some point they challenged themselves and then went on to do so much with running and haven’t looked back! We have such a sedentary lifestyle, we have to be trained to run correctly, and learn to regulate our breathing to not wear ourselves out and give up.

I love this!!!!!!! Everything you are saying from the beginning to the car part is definitely me. I have to keep listening...i wish I could come see you guys...o how I need the help...i know without a doubt I would feel at least 99% better!

Thanks for such an informative video! Do you recommend some sort of waist trainer belt for tummy support during exercise? I do hit training, which involves running, rowing and weight lifting, but I’m pretty sure it’s worsening my diastasis.

Aryane, It is good to be aware of what type of training belt, wrap or splint you are using. They are good for having that sensory reminder to keep optimal alignment, but if you're not careful, it is likely that your abdominal muscles will become dependant on these belts. It is also very important to consider how you're using your core during workouts. Any kind of forceful forward pressure against your abdominal wall will definitely contribute to worsening your diastasis. When you are exercising, try being more aware of keeping elongated postures and avoiding any crunch -like movements. Running, rowing and weight lifting are all okay to do if you do them right. However, sometimes we need to slow down, go back to the basics to safely strengthen the abdominals. So, I would suggest you look into our Core Foundations course as this walks you through how to be aware of your transverse abdominis (your innermost corset muscle), close your diastasis, and further strengthen your core. We also go over how to wear and wean from a splint correctly. The exercises we give you are rehabilitative, practical, and effective for your everyday life. We'd love to help you! I love your videos. I've struggled with diastasic recti since my first, large 10lb 14 oz baby in 2005. Since then, I've had 2 other babies and they were both over 10lbs. My back is killing me. I feel defeated. I can't seem to fix my diastasic recti. I think I've made it worst by getting personal trainers who weren't knowledgable about it. My doctor says that it won't ever heal because it's skin that holds the muscles together and skin looses it's lacticity. Do you think that there are times where it can't be healed and surgery is the only option?

I'm glad you find our videos resourceful! Great question. It is very common for postpartum moms to struggle with diastasis recti (DR), and unfortunately, it is very underdiagnosed due to the lack of awareness & knowledge of the condition (including in the medical field as well as in the fitness community), as you mentioned and have experienced. It is very possible that because of this, you may have been doing counterproductive exercises and movements, causing your DR to worsen and therefore your back pain to worsen. Your back pain (and other possible symptoms) is your body compensating for a very weak core. Also, when there is a separation, your skin does lose its elasticity as there is less blood flow to that area. However, when we close this gap and reconnect your abdominals, this is able to restore and the more your core is connected, the more blood flow there will be. With all of this said, the truth is, DR is definitely able to heal and we can help you get there...this is our specialty! We have had many clients (online and in our clinic) who have come to us struggling with very wide and deep DR, along with other symptoms of functional core & pelvic floor weakness and have found healing, avoiding surgery completely. The times where we have had clients come to us and then have proceeded to have surgery are those preparing for c-sections or other abdominal surgeries. Otherwise, in 10 years of being in this business, we have only had 3 special cases with clinic clients who have been able to close their DR mostly and then proceed with surgery due to other past surgeries causing build up and adhesions. I had a bad fall forward a yr and half ago and it seems much worse w bloating pushing on diaphram and now bladder too. Mine is literally about an 8.

We do encourage abdominal splinting as long as it is alongside core rehab. Splinting is only a part of the rehabilitative process, not the whole process. So if worn and used incorrectly, your muscles can become dependant on the splint (which is what we want to avoid). Rather, splints are meant to act as 'training wheels' to the rehab process. Throughout our courses, we teach you how to correctly wear and wean from your splint. Way to go on closing your DR! Great question. Yes, it is safe with the guidelines that we offer in this video. It is important that you pay attention to your form. Remember to listen to your body for your capabilities and progress slowly with optimal alignment.

Hy sis, am frm kerala.. Ur video 8is soo informative.. I wnt to clr ma dbts.. Can u hlp me? My c-section is done 2 yr before.My Age is 21 and i have 50 kg and 153 cm hght.. My bust size 33, my abs is 29 bt my waist or lower abs is 37...i can't were jeanz... Bcz of bulging or bloating of ma abs. Plz hlp me dear...
