TikTok needs an auto pop-up warning for her content, ie. "This site may contain images that could be harmful to young viewers", and then you have to press cancel or confirm to access her stream. I'm surprised their legal department hasn't implemented it already. 😬

“How is, like, anyone alive, I guess!?!”, followed by a condescending smirk. She really is making me angry now. Gone are the days when my heart hurt a bit when seeing her. It’s honestly aggravating, how cavalier she is with the facts of her own health and as an extension, her young audience’s- some of which might also be in the throes of a severe ED. I’ve been advocating for age-restricting her channel for a long time now. She might not say that an ED is a great lifestyle, but by not addressing people’s concerns and gaslighting, she is normalising it. I hold her responsible for perpetuating this issue in some of her viewers.

Hi Jordy, last Christmas I went to visit family. There were several children visiting aged 4 to 10 and they all spent the entire time in the room next door making those silly dance videos for Tik Tock, using the 9 yr old's phone or borrowing a parent's phone. It honestly scared me that all of them talked about nothing but Tik Tock whenever they came in to show us the videos. On a separate note I have a family member who is 8 years old who started refusing to eat and was asking to go out for runs with her Dad because someone had called her fat. She isn't, but if kids are tuning in to see people like EC and that body shape is being normalised, I don't see how it isn't damaging. I hadn't realised just how desensitized I had become to this until I was at band practice and showed a video to my friend. His reaction was utter shock. My husband refuses to even look at the screen if EC is on it because he gets so upset by it and he has asked me to not tell him things about her because he gets so upset by it. For me it's a complex reaction because I know this is not good, but I have suffered with EDs myself in the past and there is always part of my brain that is shouting "body goals" at me. If I watch too many clips of her my eating habits change. If it's affecting me as a mature 50 year old, how can a much younger audience make sense of it all? Anyway, sorry for writing an essay but I watch all of your videos and never actually comment even though I have strong feelings

I believe that an age restriction would be more than appropriate. She uses her little girl voice, wears ponytails all of the time and dresses in clothing that is child like or costume like. She sits in her pink room with her stuffed animals. That would be very interesting to young, impressionable girls. It's very easy to be drawn into the "I need to lose weight" rabbit hole especially when you are young.

I just remembered my old horrible neighbors and their 6 year old daughter. She told me that she was trying to watch her figure. Which is quite strange for a small child to say. The parents were obese and they were very neglectful of the kids. They'd leave them alone in the middle of the night without telling them they were stepping out. Most likely to go get c*ke. I found paraphernalia around outside their doors. This was a six year old and a two year old boy. The little girl told me she was ten which seemed unlikely as she looked a lot younger. I asked the mom later on how old she was and she said six, so I asked why would she say that? The mom just blew it off laughing without a care, and said oh she doesn't know the difference. This little girl also didn't know how to read at all. Long story short, these parents turned out to be junkies, and they got the authorities called on them somehow, after repeatedly abandoning the kids and they'd be roaming the huge parking lot crying looking for them, the parents would be expecting me and other neighbors to watch them pawning them off I guess on us without even asking. They literally ended up abandoning their place with all their belongings still in it. They locked all the doors but crawled through the window. They would also borrow things like phones and chargers from other residents and never give them back. They had told us and my other neighbors as well as landlord so many assinine lies prior to all of this leading up to their bailing. It's a crazy situation, but apparently they would only last about 4 months at a time, bouncing around different parts of the surrounding towns with the same nonsense all over again.🙄😒 I hope the kids are okay. It's been a few years. But anyway, that was very odd about the little girl. She was already thin.

Tangential speech or tangentiality is a communication disorder in which the train of thought of the speaker wanders and shows a lack of focus, never returning to the initial topic of the conversation. It tends to occur in situations where a person is experiencing high anxiety, as a manifestation of the psychosis known as schizophrenia, in dementia or in states of delirium. It is less severe than logorrhea and may be associated with the middle stage in dementia. It is, however, more severe than circumstantial speech, in which the speaker wanders but eventually returns to the topic.

I 100% relate to this from my own ED experience. I did feel disgusted and “unworthy” if I wasn’t able to control my hunger and able to go days on end without food. I was more afraid of what could happen on the Internet opposed to walking down the street. With everything being recorded, from looks to revenge; it must be 10x's as hard and the humiliation is beyond my comprehension - Like Jeffery; "I have video of you losing your shit and I will use it to my advantage" Very vindictive and cut throat for a person of 40. It must be so hard for young people growing up in this. I think this is also why more and more people are now saying they do not want to have children, and it’s completely understandable. I had the internet from a young age but it was nothing like now. In my teenage years and early twenties I could never have comprehended how much social media and things would evolve, and what that would mean for the young people of the future. Hey Jordy! My daughter is Gen Alpha (age 10). She's popped into my room as I'm watching you videos and was immediately shocked when she saw Eugenia. When she asked me what's wrong with her, I explained that she has an illness (I'm disabled so she may be more knowledgeable than the average child on mental and physical disability). She was immediately worried about EC and asked me how she can survive like that and why she's not in a hospital. So even children have a rudimentary understanding that something is wrong with her and find Eugenia alarming and my kiddo has had access to technology and the internet in some capacity her whole life.

The desensitization breaks for me sometimes. There's three moments off the top of my head: 1. Seeing comparisons between her from this year compared to last year. I hadn't realized she'd actually dropped more weight, I thought people were being overdramatic. 2. Recently seeing a group photo of her with Jeffree and the rest of the birthday gang. You can see the outline of her lower jaw where her teeth meet her jaw. 3. When she posted a makeup video a while ago. I think it was the first one she'd posted in a long time. She wasn't afraid to actually move her hair out of her face, and at first I thought it was confidence. The type where you accept what you look like, but I realized later that it's because her face was finally as thin and slim as she wanted it to be. Which is then I realized how thin and gaunt her face looks now.

Usually when you see that, it's because the person has very buck teeth, which isn't the case with her. It's something that's become much more noticeable to me lately, and has had me wondering if her skin is pulling back or retracting.

21 year anorexic here with, perhaps, another view into the world. Some ED’s are begun by the lack of a sense of control in one’s life. I was a healthy, active, happy 15 year old who went from athlete to bedridden overnight from a sports injury. I never once thought I was too fat, needed to lose weight, etc but I suddenly had no control over my life and the only thing I could control was food. Flash forward 21 years, I still have to fight massively hard every time a life situation that I can’t control comes up and to not restrict my food intake is the first instinct. Eventually, the disorder will turn into a food/calorie/weight/body image thing but it never begins that way. It’s just wanting some control over your own life when it seems like you have none.
@Poopiepies
@Poopiepies 8 ай бұрын
Seconded. As someone who was pretty happy with their body when my ED developed, it was 100 percent about control (or lack of); similar to self harming, the only ounce of control I had was either my food intake and what I did to my body. I let all the anger and frustration for my lack of control in my life out on myself.

When I first saw her (maybe a year or so ago?), my jaw dropped. Since then, she's gotten even more emaciated and gaunt. And yet, I'm not shocked like I once was. I am literally shocked is all so I watch.... like a typical 'train wreck' situation. @@SueWoods-xj5kf Omg, so I was obese then according to your scale, that’s mad. 😅My dr a few years later asked me straight out if I had anorex** because I was complaining about tummy issues. (I didn’t have an ED so it was kinda awkward to be asked straight out and not taken serious). She asked me what I weighed and said that made me underweight on the BMI🙈 I guess it’s good that doctors dare to go there but for me it was awkward.

No this is not heroin chic at all. I Guess Taylor Momsen would be one of the last recent examples of someone who projects an image of “dark, distressed beauty” who is extremely thin and doesn’t look like an image of health, yet EC is still worse (for lack of a better word) than that. Plus the models of heroin chic have an air of confidence and personality which really plays up the whole look (which EC ofc does not have). Anyway at this point EC seems impossible to romanticize or glorify, she looks like an image from a medical textbook.

I grew up obsessed with Kate Moss, and was triggered by her when I was in denial about my AN. The thing is though, Kate wasn't emaciated, like Eugenia. You really can't compare the two, IMO. And when I spent 6mos in residential, when a patient came in looking like Eugenia everyone was shocked by the level of cachexia. Heroin chic, while triggering, didn't desensitize the population to severe emaciation. It's the same with Twiggy in the 60s. BTW I love waking up to Jordy and Cooney drama! Thank you, baby!! 🩵

I totally agree. I think the very thin beauty standard is only an entry point, that's not where eds begin. I'd assume Kate moss didn't have a healthy relationship with food but she appears to be naturally thin, it looks fine on her. Same with most well known models of the era, that's what pop culture will accept. When I think of dangerously thin models it's the often underage, largely unknown runway girls of the time. They got work but the general public didn't like their appearance.

Agreed. Heroin chic was very much about "the standard" of being a size 0-4. Some (well, many) tried, many friends had EDs in the Y2K era. The media/tabloids were absolutely horrible in objectifying women and would report on whether Kate Moss, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, JLO, etc etc etc had "gotten fat". For me, body positivity in its OG era was about pushing back on that objectification and retaliation against "the standard", just be healthy and happy regardless of jean size, skin colour, physical abilities. It definitely wasn't about promoting unhealthy choices, whether restrictive or no holds barred and eating the kitchen sink. I think it was also about pushing back on the toxicity that "the standard" created, for example Tyra Banks and her whole controversy of a (shyte)show (if you don't know what I mean look into it, there's a lot of toxic tea on yt about it).

Eugenia needs a lesson in compassion and intent vs impact. Intention does not MATTER if your impact is harmful. I also agree with you, Jordy - I don't think it's right to "ban" Eugenia from social media but her presence is harmful and I think an age-restriction would be a good step to take. But, kids will always find ways to get around it so I just don't know how to feel, which sums up seeing Eugenia in general.
@lacymcknight5043

Yeah, age restriction sounds good, but the vulnerable portion of her audience that needs to be protected from her influence is still going to watch. So, a box pops up saying this c9ntent is only suitable for people over a certain age. That's not going to stop anybody. And if it goes by the age a person entered when they made the account won't matter either. They'll just make a new profile with an age old enough to get past the warning.

I absolutely love that you give people the benefit of the doubt. Having started my own ed in the 80's and needing in patient treatment off and on til 2012. Plus my job in social work, i have known hundreds of people with every type of ed. When in patient for 6 or 8 weeks, you get to know people intimately. The very nature of an eeating disorder is an obsession with weight, food etc. It's part of the diagnostic criteria. There is a twisted idea that bulimia ranks above binge eating disorder and anorexia ranks wayyy over bulimia etc. Eugenia is hyper aware of how she looks. Bodychecking is also criteria. I did see a report that tiktok is adding ed behavior as against tos because of the Eugenia publicity. It's becoming a bad publicity issue. For Eugenia, pairing up with Jeffree seems to be the most toxic combo ever. ( you happened to say toxic just as i typed it 😊). Realistically, Jeffree is middle aged and not dealing well. Eugenia is 30 and can't get away with the naive, young thing. These are 2 people who can't handle aging yet insist on putting their lives on line. I have said before that if i was exposed to this at 12 or 14 i would have followed my ed til i was dead. She makes it very clear that her view on treatment is negative and people who want to talk to her about recovery are haters. This is 100% trolling. You're right, she's mocking them. Jeffree makes it clear that he thinks her behaviour is hilarious. He encourages the trolling. This is the twisted "ranking" in ed world that i referred to earlier. The talks of ed patients or those in the pro ana community do see this level of emaciation as superior. Websites dedicated to how to "beat" a feeding tube etc. Pro ana world really is shocking. Sincerely, to any girls admiring Eugenia. If you admire her make up or fashion etc or the tiktok battles ..hey....do your thing. When it comes to food and weight and her saying she's fine. She is not fine. Please do your own research about healthy weights and foods for you. Call a help line. Look at recovery sites. Sorry to go on a rant about this. I do hope tiktok is making changes. About the beeping and alarm....is this group paranoia? Ninja warrier..Mindgame edition? 🤪 ok. Got it. He's wonderful and amazing and she's not really hiding something. Did the edibles just kick in? I feel like i have the answers to life now.😮

What happens when the parents are okay with it? Either endorsing it or not caring enough? I don’t think it should be up to the parents because not only are some abusive, but some are simply negligent, not caring what their kids are doing. I was actually on tiktok and came across her live right before the point when they were talking about the door ordeal... it was a bit weird because she got up to fix her hair which meant she left the room and when she came back everybody was talking about the beeping noise of the door but she was rambling about something else...she was reading the comments of people saying "open the door, open the door"... you could tell she was reading them but acted like she didnt see the comments about the door and then all of a sudden she said she lost her chat and couldnt see the messages and it went dark for a few minutes....when she came back only then is when she was acting like she had read them for the first time and was saying "what are y'all talking about my door?".... the snide little laugh after that was a bit concerning and I can see why people thought something was up and she was trying to cover it up.. it's almost as if she left and went dark to go fix it.

Hi Jordy, Apparently Tik Tok has expanded the reporting section, to people that have An ED, or seem to be harming themselves, or have toxic content, whereas it was very vague and specific before, now there IS a block to tick off for that now. It's worded for ED's, which is GREAT!!; so she no.longer has an excuse, its not "false reporting", that has always been her excuse, and why she kept coming back. I really think maybe Tik Tok is "trying" to step up by doing this. God I hope so.

I really struggle with the concept of taking her offline or restricting her. There may be people who are too young to realize looking like her is dangerous. At the same time we have countless examples of people using extreme means to change their appearance whether it's sugery, filters, body modification or whatever and we dont force them to disclose or age restrict them. Also existing online while mentally ill, which is what this is regardless of other problematic parts of her personality / choices...i don't know. I would be afraid to ban her and create a slippery slope of discrimanatory practices. I think that she wears her mental illness on the outside, and otherwise she wouldn't be interesting or get as much attention. The whole situation sucks for everyone.
