Tks for sharing 👌🏻🙏🏻.... Just subscribed!! What is the use for that modification, I’m new to this things an I’m not a mechanic; I had my 1.4 Basuc hi Lux lift about 2 inches and other “body mods”, would I need this also? What do you suggest? TKS again! God Bless!

1stly, a diff drop is used to realign the driveshaft angle when a lift is installed, back to, or closer to, factory angle, so as to preserve the life of driveshaft and minimise breakages when wheels are fully drooped in off road conditions. there are also other problems that may occur when lifting and having shafts on max specification angles or more such as seals leaking. The diff drop used in my vid is a cheap alternative to a more comprehensive drop. The more comprehensive drop is also commonly known as a diff relocation as it also brings the diff a little forward as well as dropping. The relocation will cost more as it has upgraded/heavier duty diff brackets and bolts. FYI, I have since upgraded to the relocation kit as I am doing more harder trax now and want more peace of mind.

my seal keeps leaking as well, even after replacing the seal. did the diff drop fix the problem?

OEF2012 yeah it did

I'd bet you your half shaft seal is leaking from the very undersized needle bearing directly behind the seal. The pins in that needle bearing are a couple thousands of an inch too small and allow the shaft to wander. There is a kit that utilizes a bushing in place of the bearing that alleviates this issue.

I upgraded to different relocation with phat bars kit not long after this video. No more diff seal leak

@@dannz1 do you know if that kit is available for the tacoma? Here in the states all I see are the front spacer kits.

So basicly don't buy a Snake Racing diff drop kit. Bolts thinner, nut lacks meat and washers missing etc.

Nup. Get a phat bars. Dont waste money or time with with the spacer type drops.

@@dannz1 I've gone remote res adjustable from superior engineering. Adjusted to 10mm above 2" so when settled it should sit bang on 2" lift. They say you don't require a diff drop on 2" or less but for a bit of insurance on the CVs I'm putting in a spacer style diff drop anyway (hence watching this video) . Hoping the superior engineering DD has all the correct parts unlike snake racing.

@@smatt9993 theoretically you dont cause the angle of cv is within oem tolerance. The problem is...when you full droop over time it wears out and/or deforms the shaft seal and after several rut crossings the seal starts leaking. This is my experience. It may not happen at all to yours but it did mine.

May have been worth your while to install the proper diff drop kit (Monster Rides, Phat Bars, Ultimate Suspension, etc) instead, these cheap spacer kits doesn't actually lower the diff but twists it and levering it.

Jimie S so u sayin theres a better kit?

Orgy yeah, check out Phatbars and look at the hilux section for the diff drop im referring to. It genuinely lowers your diff giving you much better cv angles on lift kits that are 2" or higher.

check caloffroad. they do a proper diff relocation bracket. they are same as phat bars.it strengthen the right side.

Yeh dont listen to them mate, spacer or bracket style diff drop all do the same, they twist the diff down. Neither are a true drop because of crossmember doesn't allow it. They both raises your prop shaft angle as the rear of the diff can not be dropped any further past factory. So what ever you do, your doing all thats possible, twisting the front of the diff down
