Phil never had any hard feelings for the Abbott’s. It was the media that twisted a lot of shit and formed their own narrative agenda. At the end of the day, as you said, they were true, close brothers.

I'm curious about this. I noticed that Phil says Pantera are "not exactly thrash". I always had the Cowboys from Hell album down as a quintessential thrash album. Perhaps not Pantera's later stuff, but certainly at that stage. Maybe it's an age thing, but I've always understood thrash to be the faster, galloping metal i.e Domination. Whereas stuff like 'Walk' is... something else.

@@TheJTD1982 90's Pantera really can't be labelled. There's a lot of influences, different sounds and directions every album. @HeathenDance3 жыл бұрын
@@nico.ch029 Metal was doing great in the mid late 90's. It was the decade in which dozens of legendary bands came to the scene, under their respective subgenres. Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Paradise Lost, Type O Negative, Dissection, Mayhem, Unleashed, Amon Amarth, Marduk, Rhapsody, Stratovarius, Burzum, Massacre (etc, etc). The list is enormous. By the way, Load (and Reload) isn't influenced by Grunge in any means. It's the most "Black Sabbathish" and Bluesy album that Metallica ever released. But not grunge. Megadeth's Youthanasia, now, that's Alice in Chains-like. But not Load.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some new & incredible bands out there that I love, but there are strong elements of sincerity and levels of controlled insanity that are missing when compared to 90’s metal and music in general of that particular era. Too many people nowadays are trying too hard to competitively imitate everyone else or lazily slap something together on Ableton for the next generic hit on Spotify.
