Last video has a few controversies with canonsity of certain characters that I was under the impression we're canon and stuff. One of the things people disliked was missing characters. There will 100% be missing characters. Infact here's some examples (Tom Okanwe from wolf blood is dyslexic, Phil and Luke from modern family have ADHD, Mr Greencock from Friday night dinner is blind, etc...) I could make a part 3 but as of now I have no desire. There is so much representation that I couldn't possibly include every last character that has ever been disabled/had a disorder.
Also I am aware that not everyone here is exactly "good representation". How I am doing this is if they are so far removed from what they're trying to represent that they don't even represent what the disability then I won't include them (e.g music from music definitely doesn't represent ASD despite that being the intention)
Oh and tinella nosa has lambdacism as well... I forgot
And apparently Jimmy from south park has tourettes??? Idk
Thank you for listening
Includes:
Family guy
My little pony
The owl house
Foster home for imaginary friends
South park
Danganronpa
Full metal alchemist
Red dead redemption
A quiet place
Monster high
The dragon prince
Dr who
The sparticle project
Fireman Sam
Andi Mack
Disabilities included:
Wheelchair users
Phocomelia
Amputees
Deafness
Autism
Blindness
Dyspraxia
Dyscalclia
Eye injury
Cerebral palsy

Questions: Why did you say wheelchair user and not paraplegic? Because not everyone who uses a wheelchair is paraplegic. It's for me to just put them in a general category. Though I think all the wheelchair users in these two videos so far have been paraplegic, there might be one later who isn't. Also a lot of these series are shows I haven't watched so for all I know they might not be completely paralysed? How come Hannah is swimming? As far as I know you can still swim when paralysed in the legs. You just tread water I guess. How come Frankie is a "prosthetic user" and not an amputee/a person with phocomelia? Frankie is difficult as their metal part exists because they were built by someone so they aren't an amputee as they never had that part of theur leg removed but they also don't have phocomelia as they were never born Autism isn't a disability? It kinda is. It depends who you ask but autism can be debilitating. Examples might be sensory triggers causing melt downs causing certain places to not be accessible (e.g the cinema is a loud and bright place and might be difficult for autistic access). Furthermore, autism often makes autistic people isolated as they have social struggles and or get bullied for acting differently to allistic kids. Finally autism can cause children to be enable to do things like talk (non-verbal autism) or even make eye contact in any way. Though none of these characters have been that severe the autistic characters in this show off the debilitating issues. Norma can't partake in activities without having a meltdown unlike the ballistic people around her. Twyla cannot put up with loud noise and in a music video 3 people screaming causes her to fall to the ground and cover her ears. [character] is bad representation! Read description Any other questions I'll answer below vvvvv

If you can admit that a character is bad representation, why would you still include them? The example you give being music, yes don't include them, it is a very harmful stereotype, but normally, when a character is bad representation, it is often because it is harmful.
@project_letters
@project_letters Жыл бұрын
@@crimsonmage3758 well it's because these characters often have conflict around whether they're good rep. It's up to the viewer on what they want to see. I don't like entrapta because they put her on a leesh despite being an adult. However, many love entrapta and think she's amazing rep. I would never include a character that is completely unrecognisable as the disability they're trying to portray but characters like Entrapta aren't unrecognisable. A lot of the rep in media is harmful, sadly.

It's heartwarming that South Park displays both of its major disabled characters (Jimmy and Timmy) in a positive light and everybody (even Cartman) treats them with respect Meanwhile, Joe from Family Guy is treated like a freakshow and sub-human by his own friends and wife
@project_letters
@project_letters Жыл бұрын
Yeah I dislike Joe's representation. I'm not paraplegic so maybe there's humour to be found in it that I can't see but there's a reason he didn't come to mind when making the original. I feel some jokes are funny on their own but there are some that just rub me the wrong way, mainly ones that involved the slurs for wheelchair users. You can have dark humour and still be funny. You can respect a disability and still be funny, South park is a great example! Nevermind though, clearly Joe is an enjoyable character because enough people asked me to include him in this

@@frederickuniversal7687 I have never watched the series. That'd probably be really cool. They could've done it like toph from avatar (also a series I haven't watched). Like they forget he is paraplegic so they ask him to do things he can't, and it can be dark humour. Too bad he's just kind of a "ha!he can't walk" character. Like the squirrel joke and even the bitmoji jokes in the video are hilarious at best and meh at worst but I can't laugh at Peter making his parrot learn a slur against him by saying it to it over and over

It's very interesting when you realise just how many characters in the How To Train Your Dragon universe are physically disabled. It makes sense considering the Vikings' profession, but I didn't notice just how many had physical disabilities like that until I thought about it just now. Hiccup lost a leg, Toothless lost a tail fin, Gobber lost a hand and a leg, Drago Bludvist lost an arm, and the Bewliderbeast dragon he enslaved eventually loses one of his tusks permanently, affecting his ability to defend himself. Valka has several disabled dragons in her sanctuary such as a blind dragon and one with a missing lower leg. Bucket from the tv series has brain damage from a dragon attack and a missing hand (his friend Mulch also has a missing hand), and Gothi the elder is mute, as was another character from the tv series "Silent" Sven, although he managed to overcome his muteness. There's also Viggo from the tv series who ends up facially disfigured after receiving a bad burn (run in with a volcano) and also went blind in one eye as a result.

If we also include the "Dragons: The Nine Realms" series (which a lot of HTTYD lovers dislike and don't consider canon - I personally don't mind it, but I can see why others dislike it), there's also D'Angelo's mom Angela, who's a wheelchair user, and Alex, who has autism.

I know it may not be exactly a disability (except for extreme cases) but I would really love to see Wybie from Coraline included on this list. I think the eye disability that Wilt and Derpy/Bubbles has is called a lazy eye. A lazy eye is where one's eye can be controlled while the other, has a hard time getting controlled. Other characters that have it is Lazy Susan from Gravity Falls (her eye is closed due to an incident) and Tamatoa the crab from Moana (he has a hard time trying to control his eye when he talks to himself and telling his eye to “pick one”) Also, the character Billy from the movie The Conjuring 2 has a stuttering disability and the girl from the movie Orphan (I forgot her name) is born deaf.

1:13 omg jimmy has always been my fave character in south character, and the way he says "i am totally happy with the way i was born" reminds me of a girl i met during my last few days at the psych ward a few weeks ago. she has cerebral palsy and she told me she liked the way she was because she didn't think she'd be the same person without it. she had a cool purple electric wheelchair and she showed off all the features it had. one of my fave memories about her was how she moved slowly when she was around people and then sped as far as she possible could when people weren't in her way LMAOOO i love how two different forms of cerebral palsy are shown in jimmy and timmy, and i love how they're always seen with the kids! i also love how they're shown in the timeksip special and how jimmy is a comedian. jimmy has always reminded me of jimmy fallon literally because his name is jimmy and he's a comedian.

I love this little series of yours! If you're open to suggestions, I have a few I'd like to list! Almost every human character in the video game Hi-Fi Rush has some sort of physical disabilities, aided by robotic technology. The main character Chai had minimal use of his right arm prior to the beginning of the game, where it was amputated and replaced with a robotic one. (As well as having his MP3 player stuck in his chest.) It's also heavily implied that Chai has ADHD, but not confirmed. One of his allies, Peppermint, lost her leg when she was younger, and her robotic prosthesis was built for her by her mother. Arthur Kingsmen from the Mystery Skulls Animated series has PTSD, and a robotic arm that he built himself. (Long story short, he got possessed and had his arm ripped off with the spirit sealed inside.) Vivi Yukino from the same series has Amnesia. Both Boyfriend and Girlfriend from Friday Night Funkin' are Autistic and have ADHD. There are definitely more, but these are a few I can think of that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Mitchell Tanner from Strange Hill High has ADHD. Also William Afton is technically an amputee since in FNAF 6 as Scraptrap He loses most of His left arm... though I don't know if the fact that as Burntrap He now has an endoskeleton left arm counts as a prosthetic or just repairs to the springlock suit He's in.

Fred Jones from Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated is on the Autistic Spectrum & I noticed all the traits. That's a reason why he's one of my favourite characters in the show. He has a hyperfixiation with traps, which is handy, because they end up mostly catching without fail (if no one trips it or tampers with it) due to how well he knows about them. He also takes things literally, doesn't understand hints, sometimes misinterprets emotions, can become clingy towards characters he loves the most & shows some ADHD traits (which can be on the Autistic Spectrum). By far he is indeed one of the best characters seen by fans, too, & it makes Fred very human. 😄
