I like the art and the room. Enough characters without it feeling overly done or super cheesy. Still classy and nice.. Overall a nice update.

The value to these rooms are coming as they start adding park hours and bonus benefits for Deluxe. Just watch as they learn to establish a larger split between higher end resorts and value.

I actually really like these - I don't think the Moana theme is overly invasive. I think the Polynesian / Island touches are more prominent, and I love the colors. So often these rooms are brown / gray and bland - the colors in these rooms really stand out. Thanks for the great room tour.

For this kind of money, the shower should have been curbless. Using a premade pan is what you do when trying to do something fast and for less money. Everything looks really nice but the cost per night is over the top. Rent DVC points and stay here for much less.

Not as bad as I thought it would be,but original Poly was relaxing and better themed.

Tom, you are the best, dude! I have watched so many room tours that I feel like I know every type of room on Disney World property. A lot of them are very scripted and "professional." Yours are not scripted. You go through a room in exactly the way my wife and I would. You put a lot of "Wow - look at this" into your review, which is how we react to the attention to detail Disney puts into their properties. We are DVC (since 2001) and our home resort is Old Key West. We LOVE it and really have no desire to stay anywhere else. But we do fantasize about staying elsewhere someday and your videos really help with that. Thanks!

Fun tour! I love the new color palette with lighter & brighter color tones with the washed out batik/batique style wood cut and fabric prints. The small, colorful lumbar pillows on the bed with the white textured bedspread is a nice look. Love the art, and the IP isn’t over the top. For the deluxe price point I’d prefer both a soaker tub and separate standing shower, plus a small balcony but I get these rooms are older architecture and obviously not much to work with for a balcony. Sure, it may have been a bit outdated, but the ‘Polynesian’ room, at the Polynesian Resort/Village, was so warm and comfortable. We now have the ‘Moana’ room, at the ‘Moana’ Resort, which seems very loud and a bit cartoonish. Though, the longhouse hallway is incredible gorgeous!

Ok last trip I stayed in Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs and absolutely LOVED IT! This room is almost the same set up and style as the standard rooms at Destino Tower but the Destino Tower rooms are a little bit bigger and the shower is bigger also. I can’t justify the money at Poly because I’m a sun up sun down park goer, so I’m just using my room to sleep and shower. Honestly unless you have to be closer to Magic Kingdom and u are a Moana fan. If you like this type of room just go stay at Destino Tower it’s new and it’s basically the same style room with a bit more square footage and you will save $300 a night on standard rooms.

Fave part is the colorful coffee nook. Also liking the abundant backlighting. The aqua upholstery kind of looks tired. Thanks for the tour.

Rooms look nice, but $$$$/night and not all rooms have balconies was always disappointing. It’s like the Garden Wing at The Contemporary.

It’s out there with the Gran Destino Tower room, very comfortable and beautiful details...it will make your stay unforgettable

When I was a kid in '98 and we wet to Disney for the first time ever we stayed here (never thought we'd go back so we went big!); by luck we had a room with the monorail right behind it and omg I was in my element - happiest ten year old ever!!

They should have given you a Moana themed room key. They missed on an opportunity there

Love this so much! I personally want to feel like I’m at Disney when I stay, but of course everyone is different. However, I don’t like how you have to walk past a CLEAR shower door to use the toilet, and the fridge is super tiny. Very tastefully done though 🌺

I love it, I want to feel like I’m at Disney when I’m at one of the WDW Resorts, love the theming and the view. LMAO 🤣 watching you trying to open the bed.

Way better than I expected. The IP proved to be almost perfectly themed for the resort, so much less intrusive than I feared, although that wall is definitely on the LOUD side...but this sure ain't a Marriot! One negative noticed: So long ceiling fan! Which is something I like, as I like to have some air circulation without the AC blasting away.

As a person who is OVER the non-theming done in the value resort remods this makes me SOOOO happy... I 💚💜💙💚💜💙THIS...

The first floor rooms have patios, and the third floor rooms have balconies, but the second floor rooms have Juliet balconies because in these islands it was a myth that a balcony on the second floor would let it evil spirits so Disney utilized that detail

Anyone know if it is only the non-DVC rooms that were rethemed or are the DVC rooms the same theming/setup?

I guess I must travel too much because the room reminds me of a large Cruise Ship room especially the closet, shower, and the under the bed storage.

They could have used some sort of patterned flooring for the Wilderness Lodge. Just a nice touch so you're not LOOKING for color.

This room turned out nice for what they wanted from it. Wonder if this is nicer than contemporary... This may be the better one.

Great video but you mentioned Tokelau as the building name but pretty sure it’s Tuvalu. this confused me for a while until I looked up the map. So for anyone who wants a theme Park view look at Tuvalu (it’s to the left of boat dock) where as Tokelau (is to the right of boat dock which may also have a few rooms with theme park view (but other building is better) this one is behind the bungalow in Bora Bora which are crazy expensive. Also if you sign up for the touring plans website which I just did it shows you pictures for every room it’s $18 for the year and can request a room for you starting 30 days before you are booked to check in. You also can request a room for free but this way I found it easier and nothings guaranteed but I like seeing all the pictures. Hope it helps!

Nice update, fresh and pretty. I do like the Moana theme, but it would be nice if there was Moana some places and new Polynesian in others because that style is so iconic. Epic fail having a toilet in its own room at the back that no one can get to if the shower is being used...

Love this update. So much brighter, modern, and more inviting- the splashes of color is great - doesn't seem cold to me or hospital-like. The character inclusion is subtle enough that if you're not looking for it you might not see it, but it's good enough for kiddos to find and enjoy. Well done!

As an adult, I sometimes want a break from Disney shoving their latest IP in my face EVERY waking hour. The resort used to be able to offer that. Now it's just Moana everywhere you look. (And I preferred the previous "Mermaid Lagoon" bathroom art to what is placed in there now. 😞)

I find the update tasteful w/ the inclusion of the Moana IP. I like seeing Disney IP in the rooms at Disney as it helps create the feeling like you’ve arrived at Disney w/o hitting the parks. Honestly that’s what one paid for when booking a hotel at Disney in my opinion. I’m not a fan of decorative pillows, but the pillows do help break up the all white comforter bedding, which the sea of white seems a big harsh w/ the mixture of lighter beige and teal tones everywhere else in this video. Interesting that the redesign has no bathtub as a tub is useful for a family with younger kids, but also for soaking your feet or back after a long day in parks. I’d love to stay here, but price per night is out of my price range. Thank you for the thorough review of the hotel room at the Poly!!!

While I'm not mad at this addition of Moana, I would have still preferred no IP at all. Polynesia has enough beauty in her nature and textiles, to have refreshed the rooms as they were. I agree with you on the headboards. Since using white on white linens, there should have been a color pattern on the padded portion, possibly using contrasting colors that mimicked the carved portion. And why did the make the showers so narrow? I'm not obese by any means, but with wide shoulders, it looks like I'd have to shower sideways. LOL Still, with all the changes, and I HATE the bungalows, The Poly remains my favorite on property hotel.

On the second floor there aro no balconies, because in the polynesian culture it’s consider bad luck. It’s believed that spirits would enter the residence if theres one.

This is a tasteful use of IP...but, I fear Disney is going to overdo this. The new (hotel) rooms at Wilderness Lodge are an ideal update for me.

Oh my god I hate this. We only stay at the Poly and I NEED that writing table/chair/mirror area (now gone!?) to do my makeup and get ready in the morning and before dinner. Everything is so BLUE! It looks like a little girls room. I miss the dark wood.

While I’m glad that the Moana stuff isn’t taking over EVERY a single room in Poly, I thought the entrance upgrade was enough because at least THAT was original.

This is what I think of, if I hear that Disney is injecting IP into hotels. I barely remember staying at the Poly, back in the early 90s, but I know my family loved it. I’d definitely want to stay in a room like this, over Art of Animation… that kind of IP injection just looks cheap to me. And Moana is, at least, a slam dunk IP for this hotel… unlike shoe-horning B&tB into GF, or Incredibles into Contemporary.

It looks nice initially but I think it’s a bit too busy. By time my family unloads their luggage etc it’s going to to be overwhelming with the wall covering and curtains. The view is awesome . The price though , ouch ! Not worth it if you live in parks from sun up to sun down . Just a thought .

This Remodel was well done. You can tell it’s Moana theme but it s subtle until you get to the big poster wall. This is much much better than the Contemporary remodel. Contemporary remodel just looks horrible.

Don’t hate it, but don’t totally love it for the price point either, the bolster pillows on the bed needed orange and some purple to tie in with the wall motif behind the Keurig & to tie in the pillows on the couch. The purple and pink floral motif of those bolsters look cheap & childish IMO and not classy. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d still rather rent DVC points for their more classic themed rooms.

Disappointed that there is no hand railing inside the shower. Otherwise, nice design and aesthetic.

Too much white and too much Moana IP throughout the room. This should be in the Art Of Animation suite , not at the Polynesian which had a warmth and charming style to the rooms. Sure the old design was in need of a refresh, but some of the new style just doesn't feel like the Polynesian to those of us who have stayed there many times in the past. I like the no carpet in the rooms and the newer style beds with storage room underneath. The fridge and closet space is great and the bathroom looks nice, but again, no color and it looks bland. I'm staying there in October for what will most likely be my last stay on property as Disney wants way too much for what little value they give you, in staying at one of their resorts and just isn't worth it anymore. At least this doesn't look as cartoonish and ridiculous as the new Incredibles themed rooms at the Contemporary.

Dont like the clear glass shower door. (dont like them in general) Very hard for a mom who has a teenage son who needs to use the jon, while she is in the shower. Isnt anyone thinking of this??????????? Other then that the room is nice. (Way better then the awful Contemporary referb, yuk)

The chairs are same quality as Holiday Inn it looks like. Theming is ok but I won’t be paying $600 plus for this room. Nothing about the room says luxury. Disney has turned from Walt’s mantra of plussing the resort to minus as much as we can, slap an IP on it and charge way too much cause theirs a hidden Mickey. The fans know it is no longer worth the price they charge, but unfortunately most of the guests are once every 5 or ten years, so they don’t know any better. I personally have told 5 different families to put off there trip at least two years in hopes it will return to its former glory and they have. Eventually word will get out that WDW has declined but it will take a while longer. I am just now starting to get the questions from once in a lifetime trip planners of “is it worth it?” Word is getting out, but it is gonna take more time before it makes an impact.

Look, its the Polynesian not the Moana barf hotel. There are some cool things but the overall decorating is really bad. The curtains, pillows, wall, chair couch and other designs all clash amongst the repurposed monorail material they threw in. I don’t mind IP but they could have given this a luxury Polynesian feel with some Moana overlays. Hate bath counter/sinks and smaller shower so they could have a pocket door. Disney execs/imagineering just so missing the mark across the board.

Stay at the Four Seasons. No way I would pay the Poly prices for what you get.
