In this video I will show you how to TWO things:
1) How to Change or Flush old Brake Fluid
2) How to replace the stock rubber brake line with steel braided brake lines
Item 1: Do the brakes feel squishy? Well you can fix that now.
I changed out the rubber brake lines on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra for STEEL BRAIDED lines. My pedal use to feel squishy, car did not brake quickly.
Starting on day one, and especially with time, rubber expands when pressure is applied…thus reducing the energy supplied by absorbing it and the full pressure is not supplied to the brakes.
This can be mitigated to some extent by getting steel braided lines. My car is by no means a performance car. The brake lines are all steel up to the point where they need to attach to the wheel. Installing the steel braided lines, will eliminate majority of the energy lost due to expansive rubber lines especially OLD rubber lines. YOU WILL NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.
In this video I show how you can change out the rubber brake likes with steel braided lines. Anyone can do this as long as you follow these steps.
This is a good time to change out the brake fluid as well. Might as well as you will need to bleed the brake system to remove the air you allowed to enter when replacing the rubber brake lines.
Item 2: Has it been forever since you ever had the brake oil or fluid changed?
Just like any other oil, brake oil should also be replaced. This procedure will show how you can on your own, with no one needed to pump the brakes can change the brake oil using a vacuum pump that you can pick up from Harbor freight. Don’t forget to use their 20% off coupon…ask the for one and they will apply it.
FYI: both of these items can be performed on any car. The steps here are general enough to apply to most cars. Just make sure you use the correct brake fluid for your car.
