I cant remove the rod from the outside door handle

Flipped up the white plastic piece but can't pull out the rod. Used enough force I feel it bending. 0:56 mark of video

i think you will need to remove the inside panel then try to reach in and try to move the lever by hand held screw driver to release the door... watch this video...he explains it at 2:30 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibBjd8d_0MnIYqc.html
