Yea !!! An exhaust install that you can do fairly easy - no rusted clamp / nuts, pipes fused together and won't separate, have to drop shields and shocks to get it in !!!! Nice of Mrs. O. to come pay you a visit and see if you're working !!!! I miss Luna and her debut appearances, she always has a lot to say !!! Drilling a drain hole is above and beyond most standard mechanics - but you go the extra 5 miles so the customer gets more life out of the parts you install for him/her !!!! Well done, Eric. Can't wait for the next one.

When I was teaching I had a person want me to try to fix their vehicle. It was at a shop and they spent a lot of the guys money trying to fix the car. At times it would not start and they had replaced ignition components and then told the guy it was the timing chain. I got it with it torn apart. Front disassembled, intake off. Had to put it together to diagnose. Put it together , ran great . parked it outside overnight in Wyoming in ten degree weather . It would not start. Pushed back inside for the day , started and ran just fine. Lifted it on a hoist and drilled a hole in the muffler. Drained 4 or 5 quarts out of the muffler. It had so much water in it it would freeze when it got below zero preventing it from running. the drain holes are definitely important not just to make the last longer.

The weep hole thing reminds me of a Nissan xterra that come through the shop one winter for a crank no start. It was dropped off the night before so we pushed it in the drip bay to thaw. Next morning it fired right up. Turns out some exhaust work was done and the muffler filled so full of water it would freeze overnight and actually blocked the exhaust. Drilled a hole, drained it out, right as rain.

Talk about aftermarket parts, I put a 500 Cadillac engine and turbo 400 transmission in a 77 Chevy pickup, I went to a muffler shop and I told the guy I wanted 2 1/2 inch exhaust from the exhaust manifolds to the end he told me the Cadillac uses 2 1/4 , I can bring it down then step it up to 2 1/2 . I said ok . He charged me $115 for everything. That was 2001. He made support brackets. And welded everything up. I used turbo style mufflers, it sounded good.

Great job Eric makes it look easy. Every time I do any work on an exhaust system I swear it is going to be the last time and then.... I have had 2 aftermarket exhausts on our '98 Grand Cherokee and both rattled where the tail pipe goes over the track bar. The original didn't do this so I could tell the aftermarket systems didn't fit as well. I finally solved this annoying issue by adding an aftermarket exhaust hanger to lift the system up just enough to keep it from hitting the track bar. Finally no rattles!

Your water in the resonator reminded me of a situation I had working at a GM dealership in a small town in the PRMN. Car was towed in with a no start condition. It was the middle of winter and the owner only made short trips. Turned out the muffler had filled with water/condensation from the engine due to short drives and froze solid - giant ice plug that blocked the exhaust. Left the car sit in the shop overnight and had a massive puddle of water on the floor the next day. Car started right up and ran fine. Drilled some drain holes in the muffler and told the owner to take it on some longer drives to help minimize moisture collection. Problem solved. Thanks for the great videos!
