Dodge Ram 3.7L V6 Spark Plug Change

I've been getting the Check Engine light, and when I checked with my OBDII reader, I get the P0300 code (Random Misfire) along with P0302, P0304 etc (the last digit is the cylinder number). I figured I'd start by changing the spark plugs. Hope this helps.

You're such a sweet older gent. It's nice to see a nonmechanic do this job, as you handle everything about as good as I would. I only had two additional things to add 1. You can add dielectric grease to the base of the ceramic on the plug and to the tips of the ignition coil boots (just the tips, not up in) using a q-tip in order to keep out water/humidity. 2. It would be nice if you gave the torque spec for the plugs when reinstalling. Great video overall. Thanks.

Nice video three different spark in the old one. Which means either a dealer did it knowing the next plug will burn out later on to bring you back in the shop or the previous mechanic was lazy and didnt do a good job

Right on! Thank you very much for this detailed video. I have a 2006 RAM and currently experiencing a misfire on cylinder 4, so I will be checking the sparkplug to see if that's the issue. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is. That being said, I came to your channel searching for this video. As soon as I took a look at your other videos, I noticed you are a musician and REM is one of my favorite bands! I live close to Athens, Georgia where they started their band while attending the University of Georgia. Actually, my son is currently a student there as well! Anyway, I thought that was cool. Same here. Just got the 0304 code so appreciate this very good video on how to troubleshoot & replace a bad plug and/or coil.

I noticed that the plugs you pulled out do not all match. At some point someone replaced just a couple of plugs, and not all 6. Maybe it was kicking back a code and they only replaced the plugs in the specific cylinder the OBD2 reader said was bad. Good you replaced all of them.

@@ianb4music just got done. Had to get another socket because the grip inside mine wore out and wouldn't grip the spark plug. But over all, the check engine light is off and it's running better. Thank you brother

I will look to see if I have any videos. Another thing too look for coolant leaks is the thermostat housing connected to hose under truck left side. It is made from plastic and warps from heat and causes slow leak. I had to replace water pump and thermostat housing same time both were leaking. It has no gasket. You can buy kit with thermostat and housing together.

that white-ish coloration with the electrode looking like it was boiling in hot fluid is a sign of it running a smitch lean thus that is totally normal. That brown-ish color means it's running perfectly. That's nothing wrong or anything, one looks to be running a bit more consistent than the other.

If you look at the video the 2nd plug you removed has the electrode almost burnt off, and the spark gap is huge, compared to where it should be.

Totally. You'll also see that some of the old plugs are a different brand.

It went great thanks to your video.Only problem I had was using cheap tools.rubber piece inside socket kept coming out or extension would come out of socket when time to pull socket back up and out of narrow pocket with spark plug.I went to part store and they sold me the perfect extension with perminent 5/8 magnetic spark plug sockett.It was $13.99.Well worth it.It was very easy after that.I never had any codes by the was.Just little jerking sometimes.Well my preset Bosh plugs did the trick.No need to replace spark plug coils or any sensors.Im like you,only if I need to.Next thing is need to replace seat cushion and seat cover.Thanks Brother.

just replaced my water pump on my 2007 dodge ram 3.7 it was leaking behind my harmonic balancer and only had 50,000 miles on truck I only noticed because my coolant resovoir was a little low on coolant something to keep a watch on.

Do you have any videos you used to help you? Mine is doing the same thing and i need to change mine. I just replaced my harmonic balancer, shaft seal, and my center support bearing. Not sure if i needed to replace my harmonic balancer though because it still has some wobble to it 🤷‍♂️

My harmonic balancer looks like it has some wobble to it as well. You get one for about 80 dollars. I have been wanting to replace it as well but some of the cheap chinese replacement parts are just as bad or worse. I will probably replace it if it gets worse. Let me know if you replace yours and how it went.

Timing chain or belt??? I don't want to buy an '05 and have to pay an extra $800 to change the belts and such. I don't know how to do the timing.

Is this a 2007? If so, do you still own it? I changed the spark plugs and I had some vacuum lines get unplugged and I can’t find an image of the engine to see what may be disconnected.
