In this video we loaded a slingshot with 3/8" Steel Balls and launched them at glass we protected a few days earlier with ExoShield Windshield Protection Film.
Using a Chronograph, we clocked the projectiles going between 90 - 120 FPS which is around the average highway speed (60 - 80MPH).

Hey Andrew! Great question. In order for us to create consistency in this test we used a perfectly round steel ball, but we've launched rocks, bolts, nuts and tons of other objects at glass protected by ExoShield at highway speeds. Realistically the steel ball is going to cause more damage than a rock of similar size or weight for a few reasons. One being that steel is much harder and more dense than rock. This means that all of the force from the projectile is being transferred into the film and glass rather than back into the rock, destroying it.

Nice test! But the likelihood of a steel ball hitting your windshield on the freeway is very low… What about some testing with object such as bolts, rocks, etc (amorphous objects)?

Hey team! I did a similar test but I was throwing short 1/4drive sockets at the windshield... The ExoShield protected a 6mm socket but broke with the 7mm. very impressive. I am curious what damage the steel ball would do to the glass without ExoShield protection.

Can I use heat to repair some of the small nicks and marks in my Exoshield Ultra? Heat gun? Is it self-healing?
