Pick Up My Repair is one of East Anglias finest traditional cobblers with over 25 years experience in shoe repairing. We can have your shoes or boots collected from your home or work address and returned to you once the repair is complete, via UPS. We will repair the majority of quality shoes to the highest standards and can offer specialist repairs such as full long soles, hand stitching Goodyear welted shoes and replacing zips. The repair department specialises in riding boots and can stretch most types of boots even those with zips in.

I was surprised to see a few things. The glue between the resole and the welt is visibly incomplete. Padding was removed from the ball of the foot upon removal of the old sole yet not replaced. Can't vouch, but the boots were not shown being cleaned before colored compound was added.

plug12and3 You are right, but the unfortunate reason is cost. Oftentimes it costs nearly as much to repair boots as it does to buy a new pair. Of course I'm not suggesting that repairs cost the same as a quality boot, such as Dan Post, Tony Lama, or Luccesse. I have all three of those boots and they are expensive. What I am suggesting is that I have also bought several used pair for between $10 and $100, so the cost of a resole can equal what the boots cost, thus negating repairs to save money. I do however think that the lost art of trade work is a crying shame.
@CorkKNIFE
@CorkKNIFE 6 жыл бұрын
It might "negate the repair" if your sole (see what I did there) purpose is saving money, but still can be justified from multiple points of view.

I'm glad I watch this video most people say that it will almost constant same to repair a boot as to buy a new one... but if you went ahead and spend 300, 600 to $1,000 then it's worth fixing them to go ahead and buy another pair I bought me some $500 worth of rattlesnakes boots and I took the courage to spend an extra 75 bucks to put a rubber shoe on it's been already two years that I have them and they still look brand new and they still look good

Does this bring back memories, back in the early 70s, maybe even 69, I worked a summer at a shoe repair shop. Not that I can repair shoes but I knew they could be fixed. Thanks to a stint in the army I was aware that taking care of your boots would get you more life out of them. In 2000 I bought a pair of redwing boots, good quality at the time for $230. I wore them and took care of them for the next 7 years of factory maintenance work. I even got teased a bit for cleaning and shining them at least once a week. When the time came and the soles were wearing through, I took them to a redwing dealer and questioned the possibility oh getting new soles and heals for them. Turned out the factory still had that option but they had to be sent out and would take 6 to 8 weeks. Off they went and 6 weeks and $75 later I had what were nearly Noel boots. I wore them for another 5 or 6 years till I finally decided to retire them as the leather had lost most of its strength. That wasn't the end though, I salvaged enough firm leather to fashion a sheath for an old German knife I had and still have today. Good quality boots are hard to come by these days. Great video.

To all the people who disliked this video: Before we became a society of disposable products, a cobbler was a highly regarded member of the community. People spent a lot more time on their feet performing manual labor outdoors, which meant it was paramount that they took great care of the footwear they could scarcely afford. If you received a foot injury, or a bad blister, you couldn't just hop in your car and drive down to Walmart for band aids and neosporin, or the ER for stitches and an antibiotic. Until the early parts of the last century, people routinely died from what started out as minor foot injuries.
