This week on the DoneDeal KZfaq channel we are reviewing the all new Kia Sorento Plug in Hybrid.
It's a surprisingly large SUV with 7 seats and plenty of tech to impress friends and family.
It comes in either K3 or K4 spec, the later being the higher which benefits from blind spot monitoring on the digital dash, rear electric seats, a bose sound system and much more.
The 1.6 litre petrol engine pairs very well with the 13.8kWh battery making 261BHP. On Electric power alone, there is a range of about 55km, and being a plug in hybrid it means it will charge on the move as well as through a plug.
The infotainment system is very impressive, it has apple car play and android auto as well as all the usual bells and whistles. A really nice feature is that the in built sat nav displays local charging points should you desire to charge it at a public charging point.
Overall we are really impressed by the Sorento PHEV, it's very big and sits in a segment in the market of its own. That said, a well specced SEAT Tarraco/ Skoda Kodiaq are probably the best comparable competitors, or maybe even a Mercedes-Benz GLB?
Thanks so much for watching.

@@rafalkociemski5997 Since kias phev cars does not have an electric heatpump the petrol engine turns on in EV mode for the heating inside the car. I was surprised how much petrol it consumed just for the heating. I live in scandinavia and its cold. To ignore the petrol engine I just use seatheater and steeringwheel heatting😀Otherwise the car is awesome.

@@zaaz7721 that is Nordic saving which I love 🙂 can you estimate how much does it need petrol for heating? I come from Poland. I have already ordered Sorento PHEV (delivery in October) and nobody could answer that. Furthermore it can be cold over here as well 😄

Hi does it have cornering lights on the side by the main headlights or is it the fog lights it uses for the cornering light?

Great vlog. Considering this for my next co. car, to replace a V90 inscription. PHEV is a must as the tax on the diesel V90 was daft. I know that driving style matters, but for someone doing big motorway miles (I do 33k pa) would this cost my company a lot for fuel and be bad for the environment doing high miles? I have a big family and the boot in this is so big that I can fit a works trolley in with the second row seats still usable when slid forwards. Astonishing really... just wondering what the fuel economy will be like

@DoneDealMotor 3 жыл бұрын
Hi There, Yeah, in terms of space and size, it's absolutely massive and would definitely be brilliant for what you need by the sounds of it. In terms of. fuel efficiency. In my opinion if you're doing 33k every year you would be better off in a diesel. The plug in hybrids are fantastic for city/urban driving but once you get on the motorway and start using that petrol engine they tend to be a lot less fuel efficient. The Sorento is available in a 2.2 diesel which would most likely be more suitable for you. Hopefully that helps. Happy shopping!

@@DoneDealMotor I'm definitely going to get a PHEV as money is so tight. My other options are: XC40 Tucson 3008 300 Hybrid4 or Grandland X 300 Hybrid4. The latter 2 are v similar underneath but the Vauxhall is edging it for me as has 4WD and although the interior is drab, the seat comfort is way better than all the rest plus will be less tax than all of the others. Test driving the Tucson this week. It has the option of making the rear seat vertical which means less wasted space in the boot but I believe is only 2WD. I also want a space saver spare wheel which I think only the XC40 has as a possibility 🤔

"Gigantic" means something different when it comes to cars here in the US. North American reviewers will say it's too small for a family of 5.

Hi buddy.. I'm having a tough time deciding between the Tucson and this car. Could you help me out?
@DoneDealMotor
@DoneDealMotor 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron, Of course. It's a tough decision however there are a number of things to consider. The biggest of which is that the Sorento PHEV is quite a lot more expensive than the Tucson Hybrid (the PHEV Tucson is yet to arrive in Ireland) and quite a lot bigger too, so they're not direct competitors.. If driving around town/small commutes are for you, then the Sorento will impress you more as you can drive it in full EV mode if you like. On the flip side, it's much bigger and so parking etc... is more challenging. The 7 seats option in the Sorento is great too as they're very spacious seats on the 3rd row. As they're not directly competitors, it's tough to say which is 'better'. The Sorento is very impressive, but the Tucson is consistently one of the best selling cars in the country for a good reason, it's very good! At the end of the day, I would advice going and test driving both of them when you get a chance, and seeing which you prefer. Hopefully that helps a little, and stay tuned as we have just finished filming a Tucson review which will be coming shortly! Dave

Hi Aaron ! Sorento is very long. But if someone has a family of 7, then this vehicle is very practical. Tucson is a shorter wheelbase I think. Out of the 2, Tucson is very practical for me. NZ

I'm considering getting a Kia Sorrento or Toyota Highlander,for our next car as we are a big family with 4 kids. What's the best choice to go for,please?
@DoneDealMotor
@DoneDealMotor 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roy, to be completely transparent, we have yet to test drive the highlander so I couldn't compare them. That said, I do think the Sorrento is phenomenally good, and it will have more than enough space fora family of 4! I would advise test driving both and seeing which you prefer. Good luck on the buying experience and update us on your final decision. Dave
