Great outstanding build! Come on people, lets support these HGW Wet Transfers. I used them on my 1/48 P-47 Prop on flat black enamel, using strong Walthers Setting solution. I love them!! I haven't tried them on Valeho Acrylics yet. I plan to end use of Acrylics and use only Lacquer and enamels. I would invest in Stocks in HGW, based on them so far! Come on man, HGW deserves full support in expanding, perfecting their product line. There wet transfers, one the greatest products to come out. Monumental!

Never seen this type of detailing. The results are fantastic.

Those rivets are pretty cool. Didn't know you could do this😎👍

Those rivets look amazing

Great stuff! I noticed mine came alive on my 1/32 Hase Fw 190D after a light sanding w the tamiya 3000 grit sponge. Once you notice them poking through when sanding, go a little bit further so they're still visible after weathering and clear coats.

Used the rivet set twice now and as I write this I am putting the last rivets on my 1/32 Fw 190 D9 and I wish the carrier film had come off as easily as yours did nice one Matt

Well I read some of the comments on FB and can only say, what is wrong with people. To me the rivits add visual interest and look freaking awesome. Nice job indeed.

HGW rivet sets are damn nice.

Those rivets look awesome. If it was me I would just give the model a light dry brush to really bring out the rivets and clear it. It will be interesting to see if they remain visible through the painting process.

I’m curious how this will finish out because they are positive rivets. I wonder if it makes sense to just use this as a template and then press in rivets with a new round tip tool, not the riveter tool. Looking forward to the results. 👍

Everyone told me on Britmodeller that rivets do not belong on a P-38. Thanks for proving them wrong. Appearance is more important than reality. See the Parthenon in Athens. Descending columns are not the same size for visual effect.

This could be one of the coolest effects, my only question is, Aren't you wondering if it will look like a porcupine?

Problems with the wax sheet sticking to the wet transfers: I had a similar issue with some of the new printed by Eduard decals. The wax paper stuck to the decal film and when I pulled off the wax paper it tore the film off the decals. This happened because of the heat in the delivery truck. Summer temps were well over 115F! Melty, melty! Solution? Try ordering your HGW sheets in the fall or winter. Czech Republic isn't known for it's desert landscapes.🤣 I've ordered direct from HGW in the past. This autumn I'll have to add these P-38 rivets to an order and see if I have the same issues you experienced.🤞

I had it with Eduard decals as well - stencils for their resin LAU-10 pods. Those were outright ruined and I had to get replacements from Eduard. These thankfully fared better.

Yes I had it with an entire sheet of mosquito wet transfers but HGW is generally very good with customer care. It took a week or 2 but I got a full replacement set for free from them.

Did you install all 3 wight balls? I feel like it’s too heavy with all 3 installed. Over time it’s definitely not good for the landing gear. I used 1 ball in the nose part only

Hi Matt, love the build series (rewatching), just had a quick question. Can you use the 409 trick for removing adhesive for water slide decals also? I'm trying to clean up some excess on a current build of mine. Thanks in advance!

Possibly? Worth a test at least.

Hi ! How long time the film with rivets staying on the model and when do you remove the film?
@raymondrosario98933 жыл бұрын
Nice job Matt. I just priced out a set of those rivets. For $30.00, they definitely add something to an already great kit. You mentioned using 409 cleaner...that doesn't harm the paint? Typically l use distilled water in my final decal clean up.
@DoogsModels3 жыл бұрын
Doesn't harm most paints - it'll erase inks and such and some acrylics, but lacquers are safe
@raymondrosario98933 жыл бұрын
Good to know as l am planning on using acrylics. Just another reason for having a paint mule. Thanks Matt

I'm curious why these rivet details aren't simply molded into the base model, we certainly can do that level of detail in modern injection molding. Also, how well do you think these would stick to cardboard? Any surface prep ideas?
@DoogsModels Жыл бұрын
Cost and choice. Putting details like rivets into molds isn't free and Tamiya chooses to put its effort elsewhere in 1/48 kits (like amazing engineering)

OMG your doing it wrong!!11! Everyone knows you put the Elmer's glue on your palm and fingers so you get the lines and fingerprints ;) P-38's looking smashing, though....
