This is a very sudden influx of light blue in a realm of oranges, blacks and mossy greens that this wad is.

This map's aesthetic is my favorite type of Doom custom level, floating in the open air. Culture Shock from Ancient Aliens is my favorite in that style, followed by the final chapter of Eviternity. I don't know why I like that style so much, maybe it's just a cool feeling to be fighting high in the sky. It's not very common in Doom WADs, so it's always fresh and a nice change of scenery.

The next level has one of the more unique fights in the level set. But this level is really cool

In GZDoom it's a dark blue sky, so it feels like night instead of day. This map also lags in this source port, specially around the area with both the red and yellow keys. The health bonuses actually raise the invisible bridge between the platform and the teleport to the exit. If you try to go there without doing so you'll end up stuck on the water below and you'll be forced to restart the level unless you noclip out of it or use mods which allow you to do higher jumps or use a jetpack like Guncaster or Trailblazer.

I liked that, the music suited it well. Well done on the eternal run yesterday!

I really do enjoy when map creators do levels with different scenery like this, for as famous as dooms original locales are it gets really tiring seeing the same techbases, cities, and hell castles all the time. So seeing something like this in doom always triggers that sparkly eyed "ahhh" reaction from me.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to get frame rate drops in this map and Map26 of Eviternity. I first thought that my PC is having problems, but it seems like those maps just aren't well optimized. And I've tried both GLBoom+ and GZDoom, as well as PrBoom+.

And I thought Eviternity had some beautiful maps. This one is quite soothing, actually. You know, apart from the demons and hitscanners. It's ok, their death screams are also soothing.

What I learned from watching decino and used it without thinking is getting enemies which hit hard to use their melee attack, and just bouncing backward... Legit used this last night on Wolfenstein Youngblood against those tank-y nazis with the armor and the gasoline gun. *The More You Know!*

Almost forgot I was watching a Sunlust playthrough. Then 5:54 kicked in

A very beautiful and relaxing map, for me atleast. Vacation material, aside from the archviles :) Btw video idea(don't know if you want any though) you could see how the doom game in the fortress of doom is different from the actual one. I've been wondering but have no idea since I haven't played that much of either.

If you like maps in the sky or void, check out Null Space, and there was also a map of the same theme (hm, didn't check if same author, might be?) in Congestion 1024, or one of the congestion projects I think.

This is so cool! I just got the Ultimate DOOM and DOOM 2 games on steam because they were on sale for like $1.60 each, and I've really enjoyed watching Decino for the last few months! Right now I'm having fun just casually playing the original levels on UV, but does anyone have any tips for newbies like me? I have a few questions if anyone feels like answering them: -what's a .wad exactly and how do you get them/play them? Are they free? -what's the difference between playing it from steam and using jailboom+ or whatever Decino mentioned at 9:05? -why is the map in the steam version so bad, and how does Decino pull up map stats while playing? Thanks to anyone who responds, the OG DOOM community seems really chill and I'm excited to play some more of these classics :)

Wait. Is this really map31 of the wad? I expected a cyber demon in the very least. Aren't half the enemies missing here? (No cacos, pain elementals, arachnotrons, spider mastermind....) Yeah. This is a totally unexpected map31. Maybe that's what they were going for? Also, damn. The sky. Clear weather, apparently.

The health bonuses are required to make the end bridge walk-able. if you do not collect them, you fall through the bridge to your death. When I was doing this map, this took me AGES to figure out because I was not aware of the health bonus platforms, so i kept wondering how to go across the end bridge! 🤣

One of these days when you die in a blind run, if die early in your next "real" run, you should keep it for a double surprise.

I also had bad fps in this map, but switching to vulkan rendering in gzdoom helped a lot.

And behind door number 3 is ... an Archvile. To nobody's surprise.
