Kim Hopper's voice strikes somehow like Vestal Goodman's, in Kim's own powerful style. But Vestal is still the only Vestal for all times. Dottie will always be the only Dottie! See you in heaven, Vestal, forever! See you in heaven, Dottie! For all soulfully uplifting, living memories, helping us get through each second of this challenging earthly journey called life, in JESUS' saving love, humankind is so grateful, Vestal Goodman and Dottie Rambo plus all our #GaitherHomecoming Brethren. Thanks a billion, Kim, for this: "The Holy Hills of Heaven" touching rendition in celebration and memory of Dottie Rambo! In GOD's abiding, loving care, abundant blessings to all our inspiring #GaitherVocal Homecoming Praise + Worship Family! I am so grateful, always! And thank you LORD for another new day! It's been a long, tiring way home. Shalom!

I love God's songs in his vessel Mrs. Dottie Rambo. Some of my favorite songs of hers are; I go to the rock, Mercy throne, Glory in the Cross, I've never been this homesick, Too much to gain to lose, What earthly reason, & The oil & the wine, We shall behold him, He sees the blood. My current favorite is Mercy Throne, for now, until I hear the rest of her catalog of songs. I know she's went through a lot when she was in the flesh, but now, she in her real body with so many of the Body of Christ in heaven. I enjoy listening to God's songs that he put IN her, along with others in the body of Christ, who have gone on to their reward in heaven, & for the one's whose songs are public domain gospel songs like amazing grace. Thanks be to God for his deposits of the anointing of the Holy Ghost's gifts & talents in & on his bride in earth & in heaven, especially of yoke destroying singing, songwriting, & all the body of Christ Holy callings of God in 1st Corinthians chapter 12.

Dottie Rambo wrote some of the most beautiful gospel songs that were ever written. I LOVE her music and though I am not a professional and my voice is not in the same league as Kim Hopper or Vestal Goodman or Dottie Rambo, I used to be asked to sing in church and I would pretty much ALWAYS select a Dottie Rambo song to sing. I would love to think that for the first ten thousand years or so in heaven we can hear everyone singing Dottie Rambo songs. I live in Nashville and I had seen her perform a short time before her death. She was performing over in the Opryland area which is about five minutes from where I live, and I told my husband that because she was in such poor health I wanted to go over and see her one last time. Of course I had no idea that we would lose her in that traffic accident a short time later. I was able to attend the Dottie Rambo Home-Going service and I am so happy to see that someone put her service on YT.

Maryann Anderson: Thanks for the sweet tribute. I was a friend of Dottie's since the late '60s but did not get to see her often. I am pleased that I met no opposition to posting all the songs in the memorial service DVD. I was reared in the days when hymnals were in every church, and most of them had at least one Dottie Rambo song, sometimes two. I miss those days.

The police report I looked at did not give those details, and I felt it would be insensitive to ask Larry, but I imagined that she died when she slammed into an obstruction inside the bus at 50 or 60 miles per hour. Larry (her manager) and the bus driver were seriously injured, but it was not their time to go. See Psalm 139:16 in any version of the Bible except the King James.

+SidsCardShop - Why not in the King James? That's the true word of God. The others have been altered. In any case, Dottie's enjoying Heaven, and one day we'll see her :) God bless!
@SidsCardShop
@SidsCardShop 8 жыл бұрын
Are you saying that people who lived and died before 1611 did not have the true word of God? FYI, only the original manuscripts were inspired by God, and we don't have any of them - none have survived the ravages of time and carelessness of man. The reason we call the KJV "the inspired Word of God" is that we believe He protected the successive Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic copies (from which the English was translated) from doctrinal corruption. Those copies are still consulted today by Godly scholars who create new versions of the Bible - although perhaps some of them do not. During the translation of the KJV, politics played a role. There was much argument about whether the public announcement of a convert should be accompanied by sprinkling with water, pouring water, or complete immersion in water. Consequently, the KJV translators just used the Greek root word baptizo and its cognates instead of translating it into English, and let readers interpret it as they wish. I hope you know that one cannot read the entire KJV today without doing some translating in the process; for example, Jesus said, "Suffer the little children ...." Was He saying to abuse them, or was He saying to allow them? Be honest, when you read that, do you not interpret "suffer" to mean "allow?" So what is wrong with changing the text to the modern meaning, so that no interpretation is needed? Addressing directly the issue of Psalm 139:16: apparently the KJV translators could not fathom that God would know how many days a person still in the womb would live, but He surely could see and know how many arms and legs he would have, so they settled for that. That was a poor decision, limiting God to something short of omniscience, an error that translators in the 1950s corrected in the Revised Standard Version. When I said, "any version except the KJV," I was assuming that none of my readers would have the 1599 Geneva Bible or the 1833 Noah Webster's Bible, as they also contained the error. And when I say, "error" I don't mean falsehood, because what is said is true, but I mean incomplete, limited. Knowing that God established the number of days of my lifespan has been a great comfort to me, and more so as I age. I am 75, and I don't have to worry that cancer or some other terrible thing will "cut my life short," because I will live as many days as God has ordained for me, and nothing or nobody can change that. He used an incredibly strong crosswind to blow a heavy bus off the road and into an embankment in the process of calling Dottie home on her last day. What will He do when He calls me? I don't want to know, but, based on the fact that the world today is as wicked (or worse) as it was in the days of Noah, I'm hoping He will come in the clouds and call His bride away so that I won't have to die. The first sign of the end times Jesus gave His disciples was that there would be an era of deception (Luke 21:7-8). Do you not agree that people today are being deceived like never before? Many do not even know what gender they are - allowances are being made, affecting everyone, for people who felt like a man yesterday, but feel like a woman today, and billions are choosing a god who wants them to die for him, over the God Who has already died for us, and wants us to live for Him. God bless you, Sister Mary.

+SidsCardShop -- Thank you for a pretty awesome response. I've used different versions on occasion, but the King James is my "go to " Bible version most of the time. As far as other versions, however, just *please* skip over 'The Message' version. Any book calling itself a Bible and writes the Lord's Prayer with, "As above so below" isn't one (In my opinion) a Christian should use. That and many other reasons. The atheists/satan lovers use that "As above so below" all the time so I want no part of it. At the end of Paul's Epistles, can you imagine Him saying, "Well, that about wraps it up!" (oye!) I just got a Bible that's the English Standard version I think it's called to help me to translate as you said BUT!! Even when I first read, "Suffer the little children to come to me," I knew what Jesus meant. Many may have thought the other version of suffer, but I honestly did understand what He meant. Oh my goodness, *this* world now is unbelievable indeed!! I just turned 61, and I raise a grandson who is now 8. I pray to be here when Jesus comes in those clouds to take us up to Him! I'm disabled and have a few illnesses, and I have 8 children and 12 grandchildren..I've had a fairly good life. Can't say cancer doesn't still scare me, but I know where my eternity lies. This world is indeed the *worst* mess it has EVER been and YES, all those people who don't know who they are on any given day! "Man, I feel like a woman today..." Can you imagine that going on about 30 years ago? Wasn't perfect, but far more were moral than this ...perversion! Worse than the days of Noah indeed! God's patience with all the foolishness is amazing to me. I've never seen so many deceived people AND so much of it coming from churches and Pastors! WORLD famous churches! Hillsong for one and their "Chris-Lam" saying that our God and Allah are the same God..phooey! We serve THE real Lord God Almighty!! Deception about the truth of Salvation, so, so much of it everywhere in every way indeed. Being almost completely homebound, I do a lot of praying, and I so enjoy teaching my grandson about the Christ who loves him SO much, and how my Jon loves Him! I do wonder often about the Rapture, as there is SO much for God to be so fed up with this world over! We just keep spreading the GOOD news to all who'll listen and remind ourselves that this is NOT Home, when it gets overwhelming. (I have a great husband also!) Take good care of yourself, my brother. You'll be in my prayers. God bless you abundantly, always!

"Amen" to everything you said. Being a Bible teacher (retired) and philologist, I don't even look at a "Bible" version that is categorized as a paraphrase, except when I am really "stuck" and am looking for a perspective that might help me get unstuck, and your references to "The Message" have confirmed my wisdom in staying away from it. I love the ESV (English Standard Version), upon which theologian Dr. R. C. Sproul of Sanford/Orlando Florida based The Reformation Study Bible, that I acquired immediately when it became available. An excellent recent translation that uses modern English is the New Living Translation. I have not studied it throughout, but have found no problem with it. Thanks for your response, and a special thanks for shepherding that young man - be sure he knows that Jesus loves him more than he could ever possibly imagine, no matter how tough things get. Share with him the Amplified Bible version of Hebrews 13:5b: " ... for He (God) Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless, not forsake nor let you down, relax my hold on you. Assuredly not!" This translation maintains all the available pertinent meanings of Scripture that are normally "left on the cutting room floor" by editors who do not want readers to be overwhelmed by "too much information." Especially important is the three-fold statement "I will not." Greek has no absolute superlatives, so to emphasize the importance of a statement, it was repeated, with the maximum possible emphasis being two repetitions - hence the three times it was said. The Holy Spirit wanted us to know that He is serious about His support at all times. God bless you.
