You have to remember that in these conversations people are trying to get help with subjets they struggle with. So in almost every interview, there is hurt etc. These people live in modern society in a particularly unnatural situation, that's bound to hurt. Remember that modern society and internet brought a ton of positive to a ton of people.
@komudiepue
@komudiepue Жыл бұрын
Pre-modern society was also soul crushing. Societies before that, even more soul crushing. Then there was a few less soul crushing societies, but then before that; the MOST crushingest of societies. It's almost like scapegoating the internet for the soul crushing nature of existence is more a sign of the dark side of fundamental misattribution.

@@komudiepue bro its literally this like i get people being so "doomsday" about modern times and im like looking back at the past ... where would you want to go back to? like 50 years ago when there were less opportunities for people in relation to jobs (like things like social media really has opened up a lot). and not to be "tokeny" but even for minorities its not perfect by any means but way more opportunities for us and just the treatment (again is not perfect and still a long way to go in some respects) but compare that to pre-modern society. Even things like mental health and the focus on that is much much higher. it's obs by no means perfect but when i see the whole "these times suck" rhetoric on the internet i think its such a short-sighted statement.

The conversation about strength and being strong reminded me of this from Tao Te Ching : A man is born gentle and weak. At his death he is hard and stiff. Green plants are tender and filled with sap. At their death they are withered and dry. Therefore the stiff and unbending is the disciple of death. The gentle and yielding is the disciple of life. Thus an army without flexibility never wins a battle. A tree that is unbending is easily broken. The hard and strong will fall. The soft and weak will overcome.

I don't think he was playing innocent, I'm not sure why people keep saying that. Dr. K is always transparent whenever he purposefully makes any inappropriate jokes for levity. If he did it purposefully he would've said so. You need to remember that Dr. K's mind is working at twice or thrice the speed that our minds do when he's doing in these interviews. In a few minutes he made a connection, a hypothesis, and a possible solution to Sasha's problem and is trying to get a point across; he could easily miss an innuendo when his mind is already 10 steps ahead of you.

Idealistic procrastination. Thats exactly what happened to me at university. I always was an A student, even in university until i had to write my bachelors thesis. I created this idea during my studies, of it being this huge thing, where everything has to be perfect. I need to cite everything perfectly, find the best sources, etc. Then i failed my last semester with only As and Bs, but an F on my bachelor paper. And it shattered my ego because "being good at school" was what i associated with during all of those years in school. It took me a few years to get over it and work through what happened. And the idea of idealsitic procrastion helped me understand it even better. Thanks Dr. K :)

If you ever go to a therapist, then try and take a mental note of how often his/her posture shifts in accordance to yours. 26:15 I want to thank Dr K for giving me a people-handling skill I've now been using at work for months. Too often people just ask me something and want an answer on the spot. They demand immediate answers, and it forces me to umm and aaahh. A lot of the time it's something that actually needs me to do research, or think about. Now I just ask them to leave it with me to find the best answer, or whatever it is that I need to give the person. Some people still don't really like the wait. They don't like to give me time to think it over, even though it's never urgent. But it gives me time to sit down and think about the best approach, instead of just slapping a band-aid answer down. If I stay with them I can blurt out 5 ways to do something. But if I have time to mull those options over, I can come up with the best one to proceed with. Noticed a massive difference with how I provide solutions now at work.

I am doing it for about 6 years now and it was a real game changer in my business life - although it was only one of some thing to do. the only problem i still have is, that sometimes i feel emotionaly overwhelmed and then i tend to give the fast answer or reaction. 5 minutes later i hate myself for acting like that. it's in my blood i guess. i really like, that you pointed it out again for me and others!

Twitch is built on hypocracy, double-standards and favoritism. She can't *talk* about what she wants and sees as important issues, but other girls can sit half-naked in a bathtub or show their privates with barely any repercussions. @@apexpredator.9770 Because Twitch is built on sponsors and ad revenue and she has a history as a very famous pornstar. So her name will forever be linked to photos of sexual content. Having her name in their promotion will always be a stigma for promoters and therefore they don't want her in the limelight. She said it herself, her name can't even be googled. If a non-famous person shows nudity on stream, their name isn't even remotely big enough to draw the attention of popular media. If Sasha Grey did bikini baths on stream, it would connect the dots of Twitch's real "moral codes" immediately.

Just starting the video, but i must say that we NEED this kind of content. We need to see examples of mental health talk, because we have spent years and years as a society hiding this subject. We need to talk about it, we need to bring it up, show people how it looks or works. Also what can be done and what can't be done, the boundaries between patient and therapist and so on. This talk is long overdue in all of human society, specially after so many wars, economic instability, natural disasters. For years we struggled to understand or talk about mental health, so yeah...now I think this is a good time to face it. I went through Hell, I want to be better and i specially want others to know that they can feel better to. Keep up with this work, sir...even a tiny grain would help. Love from Argentina 🇦🇷

Thank you for this interview, it leaves me a bit less feeling I’m battling certain fights alone when it comes down about being a girl and getting a bit more treated as a boy, or as I always look at it, I had the luxury of expressing myself organically without the idea I was a girl, but could just be me in a sense. Now I see a lot of other women around me that seem like they don’t know who they really are, and making friends this way is sometimes hard, but in a way I also carry a lot of guilt, as it felt like I "survived" the system in my own way and they didn’t seem to have that opportunity…

Quoting Alan Watts "Ego doesn't exist,ego is a concept". So you keep following,chasing or fighting against something that doesn't exist...GL with that LOL. My ego meaning years ago I think its really close how Dr K described, ego is either a defense mechanism or insecurity disguised as arrogance,but again those words are concepts we imaginate in our minds to translate the reality in symbols or are just useful to comuncate with other people. Don't fight with yourself or others,surrender and just watch what happens,don't get obsesed with that little word because you can miss a lot of things,Im saying this because I fell into that trap,maybe you not.You are not by any means wrong ,but I want to share this little tip just in case, don't overvalue or overate a concept.❤
@donsanjino
@donsanjino 3 жыл бұрын
i think ego is a self-protection mechanism of our animal brain. It's like those instincts that'll wake you up if a predator is approaching you at night while you're out camping in the open. At the same time it can be irrational and limiting as well if developed out of extreme anomalous experiences that do not reflect everyday life. In which case it might become a model in our brain developed from faulty, inaccurate data. So it's supposed to be a good thing but we gotta watch out that it doesn't become detached from reality, and if it does we gotta reprogram it. Reprogramming i think is the tricky part, since it requires *identifying* which knobs and variables to tweak.

something i feel when she said " i struggle knowing how to prioritize things" in the frame of procrastination, i would thing most people dont actually struggle with knowing a priority of tasks but the actual desire to do them. (this isn't advice directed at sasha or anything just a view from my situation) i know the priority of things i need to do but i struggle with motivation to do them. right now i know my highest priority should always be school, but in practice ive been putting it almost the lowest on priority because im so exhausted of it.

I think though this is a warped way to view priority. She had no choice but to pull herself up with her bootstraps and she always has that anxiety that if she does not keep working she winds up back where she started. She does not have the privaledge of being weak or having a breakdown. Failure is not an option. So I totally get why being shadow banned is frustrating because she is still being looked at as other and having disadvantage thrown in to keep her down. She can mask it with humour, but it's anger. No wonder she was upset about seing other peoples struggles on social media and how society is rigged against you if you don't fit the mold.

Appreciate this long form, authentic content and admire your breaking of the norms! Also you’re very good at what you do, not that you didn’t know that 😄

I just love this interview, I don't think Sasha nor Dr k is going to read my comment but I just wanna say, as a 33yo man, I got a bunch of laughs and almost teared up myself when Sasha got emotional. And also, I think Sasha would've succeded with streaming even if she wasn't famous prior. She got that carisma and genuinity that you so rarely see people have. Thank you so much for this.

What a fascinating personnality. That was a very interesting and warming talk. I'm also a big procrastinator, and have read and searched about it, and tried to manage it more or less fine for a long time now. ANd I still learned smthing new. (I think mine is a mix of operational and avoidant prorcrastiantor, and a Vatha too !) Thanks a lot for making us understand ourselves better, and especially for always giving practical solutions, or ways to cope ... BTW, Sacha, you have beautiful hands (nothing sexual intended here to be clear) ... I'm sure you've been already told that, It doesn't hurt to say it more :)

I am late to the party the fact this is from a year ago but, this is the very first long duration video I've watched on yt ever, and that I am really enjoying it and definitely learn something from it. She is very smart and a strong-willed individual.

This video was a huge revelation for me. I've been watching Dr.K for quite a while now and heard about the different types of minds, etc. However I always thought the types are associated mostly with the way you think/how well you can focus and that I'm probably vataand didn't think much of it. Only in this particular podcast it struck me when Dr.K was talking about the two doctors coming up with this dasha system and was hurling out symptoms. HOLY SHIT. Every single vata related thing he said resonated so much with me.I had no idea you can be prone to different diseases for example. Last year I had cold for 3 months straight, I also dream of flying, I'm skinny, I focus hard on different things but abandon them after 2-3 weeks etc etc.. This gives me hope now that I'll perhaps learn to steer myself better to greater success.

If you had told me 10 years ago that I would some day listen to a 3h interview of Sasha Grey in its entirety, I wouldn't have believed you.
