Imagine telling the creators of this game that you beat it in 23 minutes, when they released it, unimaginable. Wow! So amazing!

That's what makes speedrunning so fascinating. And people who don't watch speedrunning are just like "what's fun or interesting about skipping parts of the game?" Their understanding of speedrunning is limited to someone playing normally, just really well.

@rooty2 ай бұрын
@maxpower2511 they don't have source code but they have access to other stuff. That's how cheat devices worked. You check numbers, you do something in the game, you check the numbers again to see what changed and how.

@@maxpower2511 Some people are crazy enough to read the machine code with a hexadecimal editor to learn how the code works, they document it on a wiki somewhere, and speedrunners read that to learn exploits to use on the game. Nothing impressive as they like to pretend it is.

I keep notes with me during the run, but by the time I'm able to finish a run I have made so many attempts that I have the entire run memorized. The only part I need to reference the notes is during the garinham dive, which I did mess up, and the axe knight fight - depending on what frame I cleared the text box at the king at the start of that section. Even the dragonlord fight was done by memory in the end. Its all about practicing little sections over and over until it sinks in.

You manipulate the RNG by timing inputs at certain ticks in the game. This video explains it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eM2YZpNzzr2rZWw.html

He's doing "RNG manipulation" to control the "random" numbers that control the way the game plays. You can find videos that explain how it works. (And no, it has nothing to do with Game Genie...)

whats the trick to get excellent attacks all the time or avoid random encounters for the most part ?

@BigSlimyBlob7 ай бұрын
@@leifleoden5464 RNG manipulation. The game generates a specific string of numbers, so you can "waste" the numbers that you don't want so your actions benefit from the "good" numbers. That's why he stops moving, bumps into things and does seemingly unnecessary menu stuff all the time, he's cycling through the numbers until he gets the ones that he wants.

RNG manipulation. The game generates a specific string of numbers, so with specific movements and menu navigation, you can keep the "good" numbers for your attacks, get the enemies that you want to spawn, get the enemy to use the attacks or spells that you want, get enemies to fail resisting Sleep, get enemies to stay asleep forever, run without fail, etc. That's why he stops walking once in a while, takes some unnecessary steps, bumps into things, moves the cursor and cancels for no reason before most actions, etc. He's cycling through the "bad" numbers.
