I actually came up with an idea for a fire/fairy a while ago! It was based on the fact that the third subclass of fairy types besides "pink" and "just a little guy" is "this is made of food." Such as Alcremie and Fidough. So it would be "Charcuterie" - a fire/fairy type that manages to have both the words "char" and "cute" right in the name.
@geologist1235
@geologist1235 3 ай бұрын

For Nathan's fun-having fossil, I must share this little poem from Ogden Nash: FOSSILS BY OGDEN NASH At midnight in the museum hall The fossils gathered for a ball There were no drums or saxophones, But just the clatter of their bones, A rolling, rattling, carefree circus, Of mammoth polkas and mazurkas. Pterodactyls and brontosauruses Sang ghostly prehistoric choruses. Amid the mastodontic wassail I caught the eye of one small fossil. I was not expecting alternative burial options to be discussed on Drawfee but oh boy do I have specific knowledge on it. Cremation actually does leave behind some bone fragments. The non-ash bits are actually crushed, it might be possible to request not to. Composting is actually a REAL BURIAL OPTION. Currently it is only legal in a few states, but New York is one of them. It's really neat and there's the option for the remains to be used for conservation efforts. Caitlin over on Ask a Mortician has a video all about it. There's also all sorts of jewelry that can be made from cremated remains. Legally morticians can't remove body parts (a dentist is required to pull teeth) so I don't think they'd be able to separate out bones.

I'm not sure of the legality of this when applied to humans but when museums and such want to clean a skeleton for use they frequently use dermestid beetles. They'll eat all the fleshy parts of a body and leave the bones clean and untouched. They can be bought from taxidermy supply outlets.

I work at a funeral home (please hold your applause) and I quickly began scrolling to see if someone else had already made a post like this. :) The family CAN request that bones not be pulverized. (I have had families make this request.) There is also the option of alkaline hydrolysis (which is cremation without the fire) that leaves the bones fully intact. The idea of composting fascinates me but as @powersquirrel8156 says it is limited to certain states.

I have a suggestion for it you want to do more type combos! I was telling my friend about this prompt and he told me about an adjacent concept; to do type combos that are exclusive to a single pokemon or evolutionary line. So, rare/under-utlised type combos, e.g. fire/water (only Volcanion has this typing), poison/flying (only the Zubat line), ice/fairy (only Alolan Ninetails), etc. (There's a list of type combinations by abundance on Bulbapedia which makes finding the rare combos easier.) Loved this episode, by the way, especially the moment Nathan and Karina realised what Jacob's pokemon was holding ^_^

I know this is really niche and probably only said for jokes but yes, you can get your non-skeletal organic matter dissolved via resomation/ "bio-cremation" in Florida or composted in Washington*, both of which leave the bones, although those are usually cremated afterwards. *edit bc I forgot to mention: faster than traditional decomposition via for example body farms The Order of the Good Death is a good resource for all things eco-friendly burials and Caitlin Doughty (Ask A Mortician on KZfaq) also regularly does videos on new methods of burial. Again, I know it was probably a joke and likely won't actually reach the intended recipient but maybe someone else is interested so I'll leave this here just in case :)

@@katherineparis8208 I'm sure they could, maybe there is even a funeral home providing this method! The biggest issue regarding non-"traditional" (read: western standard, regardless of a possible historical background in other cultures) (human) burial seems to sadly be the legality of the process. A lot of burial methods are only legal in one or a select few states in the US, so while I'm sure it's a very well functioning process, it could very well be illegal at the current time of writing this.

regarding changing them into rock, in 2005 scientists at the PNNL figured out a way to artificially petrify wood. There’s been a lot more research about wood than there has been about bone, because there would be practical use to a method of mineralizing wood in construction and engineering, whereas mineralizing bone would mostly just be a new and unique way to deal with bodies. But if you want to research artificial permineralization of bones then I’m sure scientists would be happy to help

When you’re cremated your bones are the only thing left. All the soft tissue and organic matter is burnt away so the only part of your body that is left is the minerals in your bones. Your bones are also generally intact so they are ground into the fine powder you usually associate with cremated remains. 23:11 Also several states, including New York, have composting as an option for human remains.

To answer Jacobs question, the bones are often not completely dust after a cremation, they run the bones through a cremulator, which is basically a giant grinder, to reduce all the recognizable bone bits into uniform cremains. I believe you could probably find a mortuary that would skip the grinding step if that's actually what you want.
