if they wanted her disinterest in boys to be clearer, they should have switched the order. it makes a huge difference. "as interested in girls as in boys" implies bisexuality because the level of interest in boys is the given, and you're learning more about her interest in women. "as interested in boys as in girls" implies the opposite.
