The funniest thing about this movie is the 6'1" thing... not only is that a totally normal height (every high school basketball team I've seen will have several taller Tall Girls, and college even more so), but AVA MICHELLE IS 6 FOOT 2 INCHES TALL. They made a movie about a girl so "absurdly tall" that it affects every aspect of her life, got a realistically tall actress to play the lead, and said "No, that's too tall for Tall Girl"

It’s funny bc there is something to be said about how being perceived as tall or broad for a girl can manifest in insecurity, or have a negative stigma, but u really cheapen the potential for a good story by overstating and cartoonifying the issue lol. Plot twist: the reason people always make fun of her is because she brings her own preschool sized furniture with her everywhere she goes and refuses to use normal tables and chairs. She also exclusively walks around on stilts, even if she wakes up in the middle of the night to pee she has to either put on the stills to walk to the bathroom or she just rolls.

So, Robert Wadlow (the Alton Giant), who was 8ft 11in./2.72m suffered plenty of medical problems. He had hypertrophy, he had very little feeling in his legs, had an autoimmune disorder, and had to wear braces for his legs. Robert Wadlow also was like 439lb/199kg. He passed away at 22yrs old after a faulty leg brace irritated his skin and gave him an infection. Basically, either the Tall Girl movie should screw off with the over-exaggerated height shots, or make it abundantly clear just how hard it would be to be that tall.

I'm a 5'8" girl. A little taller than average, but nothing to write home about, right? Except my surname is "Little". 16 years of uncreative bullying. For 3 extra inches above average. It's not even the bullying that bothered me -- it never hurt or ostracized me. It was just the same. Sentence. Every. Day. "Victoria 'Little'? You should be Victoria 'Tall'!" That's where these writers screwed up. Everyone inexplicably freaking out over a simple 6'1" when all they had to do was give her a diminutive surname.
