I'm such a morning person, I wake up between 4:30 and 5:30 naturally and always wake up in a great mood! I'm in bed no later than 9:30 and fall asleep quickly to a Better Sleep app story, no medicinal sleep aid. I wish I could sleep 8 hours, but I just can't.

I like "the give and take" between Dr. Fuhrman and his daughter ("Jenna" if I'm correct). It's like the Socratic Method with "Jenna" sitting in for the layperson. It's also inter-generational, which I think is a great way to get a wider audience. Just my own experience, but some people (as I'm sure you know) are "Night Owls". I generally stay up to 2am if I'm living "naturally" by my clock. I have the most mental & physical stamina from 6pm to about 2am. I sleep 6 hours per night. I'm not saying it's advantageous (in American society at least) to be this way, but that's who I am.

It is just crazy that Doctors do not get nutrition training in Medical schools. Every doctor visit should include some nutrition discussion. The majority of the population is over weight or obese leading to high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Schools and hospital cafeterias should be leading the way to good health by setting the example of what is a healthy meal and teaching people what to eat and why.. Every person in the hospital for heart disease should have a nutrition class before being checked out from the hospital with follow up education and training in nutrition. Medicare and Medicaid should require patient nutrition education as part of their standard of care. Nutrition information should be run on the hospital TV channel.

If only! It's not in the hospital's best interest to invest in prevention. They don't make money unless we stay sick.

You cannot possibly learn everything in medical school. Competent physicians learn far more from their own efforts - medical journals, books, experience, etc than they learn in medical school.

Awesome talk today. I am incorporating breath work and meditation into my day. For breathing I am working on breathing through the nose and letting the breath be slow, steady and light - and extending the exhale. I also use mantra to calm my mind when I’m getting a lot of wild thoughts or feeling upset about something. I find that a short session of Sun salutation yoga followed by a short session of breath work is a nice way to get a good meditation session focused on something of my choosing. I loved this talk about the importance of relaxing and managing stress in a healthy way!

I am practicing the LCHF, keto diet for the past 3 months and I am now able to sleep deep even 5 hours only, I am energized in the morning. Before, I sleep 10 hours but as if I haven't slept. I always feel tired before. Now I often have energy and clear mind. I no longer eat after 7PM.

I totally went to the Aladdin reference myself, started laughing pretty hard when the reference was raised! I appreciate the conversation, I certainly have a bad habit of digesting through my sleep. Being overworked is a huge issue but I am allowing myself to take better care of myself because if not, what's the point!

Difficult being young, so much influence from friends and media. It’s exciting being up late and going to dangerous places were there are drugs and fast foods. The thing is being strong enough to break free before it’s too late. These recommendations are very good, but young people will not listen and that’s ok just hope that they will find a hobby that is worth waking up for and burning for. You have one life use your time wisely.
