I do not know of many vegans who do not take type2 meds. I wish there would be more concern type2 persons?? I have lost 60 lbs and omitted blood pressure meds. I learn something new from every one of Dr. Fuhrman’s videos. This time I learned that it is better to eat nuts and seeds WITH meals than separately as a snack. I am already having walnuts (and flax seeds) with my whole grain breakfast. Now I will have my almonds and pumpkin seeds with my sprout sandwich for dinner or with my fresh cooked beans for lunch. Or both! Thank you, Dr. Fuhrman!!

Not sure if this is the right place to make a request. But I thought it would be very interesting if Jenna did a video with her dad to discuss some of his opinions regarding the recent popular research and practices of anti aging David Sinclair and Bryan Johnson?

Thank you for your question about peanuts. While they are not true nuts, peanuts can still be a part of a healthy diet when consumed in moderation. They provide plant-based protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. However, it's important to be mindful of potential aflatoxin contamination, allergies, and calorie content. In a nutritarian diet, peanuts can be included, but other nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, and flaxseeds are often prioritized for their nutrient profiles.

Lately, nuts and seeds (mostly seeds) are the cornerstone of my plant based diet. I make a large blender full of seed milk daily (mostly hemp but I mix in other nuts and seeds and sea moss). It keeps me so satiated and well nourished, has greatly reduced my appetite too. This is better than snacking on nuts as it's not as tempting to binge or overeat. I also eat fruits veggies beans greens n grains but nuts and seeds are my bedrock.😂

Your program has worked beautifully for me. I’m 64, have kept off the 60+ pounds I initially lost and am living an active life with running, spinning, yoga and hiking in nature. My mental health improved surprisingly and I became a better musician too- don’t ask me why. I know science is the reason, but it feels like magic the way ldl drops, high blood pressure is gone, and pre-diabetes is gone too. I have all your books except the diabetes one. The cookbooks are great too. I encourage everyone to give the nutritarian program a try. You’ll be so happy that you did!

Early on in my Natural Hygiene journey it was the cherimoya seeds & skins that were the real toxins. Worst mistake ever happened when I drank a smoothie with cheimoya seeds & all. As a result I could barely hold my head up to the point where I had to call poison control center. Turns out there are many edible fruits that contain toxic pits or skins. For example durian pits are said to be toxic.

Processed food manufacturers need to hear from consumers that less added sugar, oil and salt is wanted in their food products. Why is there so much added sugar in everything, even bread. That's just crazy Email, text, tweet or phone your favorite producer of poison and let them know consumers want less salt, oils and sugars in their products. Let their customer service department know that all the extra added salt, oil and sugar is not necessary or desired and is causing health issues.

Here’s the answer. A lot of processed food products DO HAVE a “low salt” “low sugar” or “low fat” version. But you know what? They taste like eating cardboard, so customers don’t buy them. The only way processed foods can compete for taste against REAL food is by throwing in all that crap to confuse your taste buds. I call those products “frankenfoods” - foods stitched together with a little of this and a little of that. REAL food is what grows out of the ground or on a tree. Don’t bother thinking about how to make junk food healthier. After all, it’s JUNK food! Think about giving up that garbage and eating only REAL food! What a concept.

Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks including fruit juices are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. When it comes to consuming nuts and seeds, raw or minimally processed options are generally preferred over roasted or heavily processed varieties. Here's why: 1. Raw nuts and seeds retain more of their natural nutrients, as the heating process used in roasting can potentially damage or reduce the bioavailability of some vitamins and minerals. 2. Roasted nuts and seeds often have added oils, salt, or other flavorings, which can increase their calorie content and introduce unwanted additives. 3. Some roasting methods may expose nuts and seeds to high temperatures that can lead to the formation of harmful compounds, such as acrylamide, which has been linked to potential health risks. However, if you prefer the taste of roasted nuts and seeds, opt for dry-roasted varieties without added oils or salt. Alternatively, you can roast them yourself at home using a lower temperature to minimize potential nutrient loss and the formation of harmful compounds. In summary, when I recommend incorporating nuts and seeds into your diet, I generally suggest choosing raw or minimally processed options. If you do consume roasted varieties, be mindful of the roasting method and any added ingredients. As always, moderation is key, as nuts and seeds are calorie-dense foods.

PLEASE HELP. I need knowledge that I cannot get from my non-plant-based cardiologist. Dr. Fuhrman, a year and a half ago I had two cardiac stents put in for 2 89% blockages. I was not and have never been overweight. I followed a fairly healthy, vegan diet, but since then have adopted your Nutritarian way of life. I am a 56 yr old female. My question is, can my blockages be reversed with having the stents? it is all very confusing to me, and I don’t know where to turn. Please help!

Hi @sharongenco3716, I'm so sorry you're going through this confusing and scary time. It must be really frustrating not getting the guidance you need from your cardiologist. Please know that you're doing all the right things by adopting a nutritarian lifestyle - that's a huge step in the right direction! While I can't give you medical advice, I want to reassure you that our bodies have an amazing capacity to heal. Stents or no stents, a nutrient-packed, plant-based diet can absolutely help stabilize and even reverse plaque buildup over time. My advice? Keep eating all those delicious, whole plant foods to give your body the tools it needs to repair itself. And don't be afraid to advocate for yourself - try to find a cardiologist who really gets the power of lifestyle changes. They're out there! Most of all, be kind to yourself and celebrate the positive changes you're making. You've got this, and there's a whole community here cheering you on. Wishing you all the best on your healing journey!

Dr F, can the nutritarian diet reverse cirrhosis?
@drfuhrman
@drfuhrman 2 ай бұрын
Hi @jennifergilchrist5597. Thank you for your question. While the nutritarian diet, which emphasizes nutrient-dense plant foods and limits processed foods and animal products, can support liver health, it is unlikely to reverse advanced liver diseases like cirrhosis. There is evidence to suggest that plant-based diets may have a beneficial impact on liver health and cirrhosis: 1. A new study found that liver patients with cirrhosis saw benefits after going meatless for just one meal. Even small dietary changes, like occasionally having a meal without meat, could benefit the liver by lowering harmful ammonia levels in patients with cirrhosis. Check this article: news.vcu.edu/article/2024/05/new-study-shows-liver-patients-see-benefits-after-going-meatless-for-one-meal 2. Higher adherence to plant-based diets has been associated with lower risks of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) (PMID: 30578029) Some plant-based diets have been suggested to have a beneficial impact on liver disease risk. 3. A recent study found that diets rich in plant-based foods are associated with lower risks of NAFLD, while the prospective evidence regarding other chronic liver diseases is limited (PMID: 36817573) While these studies suggest that plant-based diets may have a positive effect on liver health and potentially slow the progression of liver diseases like cirrhosis, it is important to note that advanced stages of cirrhosis are generally considered irreversible. Consultation with a qualified healthcare professional is essential for personalized medical advice and treatment plans based on an individual's specific condition and circumstances.

The studies he mentions are "meat based" which means that eating a pepperoni pizza fits into that. Using these studies is disingenuous at best and intentionally misleading at worse.

Dr Furman has to come around to see the carnivore diet is best… I had his book and was vegetarian for over 35 years.. I couldn’t understand why I would go through a period of time and have zero energy… I ate a large salad every day… now I’m leaning toward the carnivore diet… I believe animal protein and fats are the best way to get energy… I hadn’t had red meat for 35 years but I can see now we have been lied to… Dr Fuhrman needs to stop lying to people..

Interesting.... If saturated fat is bad why does the body convert excess sugar to fat in the liver? And that fat is palmatic acid a saturated fat. What are the exact mechanisms that saturated fat causes heart disease? Exactly! This guy needs to go back to school.

That’s a nice straw man argument. Excess sugar does have a negative effect, yeah we all agree on that. The fact that excess sugar has a negative effect does not mean too much saturated fat is fine.

@anabolicamaranth7140 Actually, you're evading the question. What is the exact mechanism which saturated fat causes heart disease? Good luck trying to find the answer.

Too much sat fat blocks ldl receptors in liver raising serum cholesterol a proven mechanism in artherscelos.

@@blsenterprise1 If we don’t know for sure exactly what the mechanism is I guess then it must be good for us and we can eat as much of it as we want.

@anabolicamaranth7140 That's a brilliant argument. So if we don't know the mechanism, how do you know it's bad for us? Go look up association vs causation and learn something. You might also want to brush up on observational studies.

Just the appearance of Dr. Furman tells me that plant-based diets do not optimize health. Compare and contrast him with Dr. Ken Berry doctor, Anthony Chaffee and Dr. Shawn Baker and see for yourself.
