The 22" Artisan Light Ride by Sabian is one of my all time favorite offerings by ANY cymbal company. Its some of the finest cymbal work you can buy. That said, rivets aren't really my cup of tea... but it certainly does sizzle properly. Nice chops...

1 inch from the edge, 3 rivets 1/2 inch away from each other.. that's what was on a 1950s 19in Zildjian Dance Ride that I got in the 80s. Later on Zildjian came out with the left-handed ride cymbal. That is the configuration of the rivets. I know there are many others. This was Louis Bellson favorite rivet pattern.

Hearing that first pop of the bit going through the cymbal, all I could think of was, “well...no going back now”. Sounds really good. I for one just use a sizzle chain if I need the effect. I just can’t do something permanent like this.

That made a huge difference. Very cool David, you should try to make a rocktagon from a regular cymbal. The rocktagons were terrible, but maybe you can make one that sounds good by taking a crappy cymbal and cutting it into an octagon?

Did you use a countersink drill-bit after drilling the holes? How much pressure should I exert in using a countersink drill-bit? Is there risk of accidentally drilling a big hole in the cymbal?

Post-February 2022 this cymbal is $750. Also they recently took Artisan elite cymbals out of their catalogue, but some stores still carry them and the 22” ride is $750, and the 16” hats are $940 💀

One rivet is enough. Use stainless steel. Make the rivet as loose as possible.

This. With a chain you got thw chance to remove the extra sizzle on demand, not so much with this unless you put tape on them, which would trigger many purists.
